You need to install "Enhanced Linux kernel for power users (settings)".
That is the tool for configurating kernel settings. More info here

Do you have rootsh installed?

Please check out my overclocking guide for some assistance.

Oh. Seems you fixed it. Nice one.

Hi!

Just joined so would like to ask a question about the overclocking.
Hope this has not been covered before.

I have overclocked to 900Mhz and have the "unknown" at version software in about.
xterminal reports could not find package mp-freemantle-generic-mp. I understand this will not let me update if pr1.2 comes out officially. Can anyone advise what to do to regain the version number, please?
Many thanks

Yes, I made a suggestion about that a few pages ago. I have to go now, but I will make it again soon!

If your Settings - About Product is showing <unknown> after kernel mod: (It's not important but for those who care)
1. Launch xterminal
2. sudo gainroot (assuming you have rootsh installed)
3. apt-get install --reinstall mp-fremantle-*
4. reboot
note: This does not touch the overclocked kernel. So can be done with either modded or non-modded kernel. Only updates the version information.
==================

Note the changed line 3 from what you tried. Let me know if this works for you -- it worked for me. The purpose of the * above is to make the instruction apply to situations that are slightly different, like yours.

hi all, i have two days ago, i flashed my device and also decided to overclock it to 850mhz using the v34 kernel power.

everything went ok for about half a day, then randon reboots start to occur.

i thought it was due to the SSH server and client because it started to happen after i install that app.

however even after uninstalling SSH, im still getting random reboots every half and hour or so.

it is completely out of nowhere, because one time i was listening to music on the n900, then it suddenly rebooted, another time i was just sitting on my table, doin nothing apart from recharging, and it rebooted....

is there anyone else experiencing the same problem?

is there a solution apart from flashing it?

p.s my smartreflex is not on.

The random reboots are because of instability, it's what commonly happens when your overclock isn't solid.

What settings are you using exactly? If you're using the "ideal" or "xlv" presets, you might not have enough voltage for 850mhz to run stable.

this is expected and fine. As 125 and 250 are in your avoid_frequencies, the actual lower
limits stays 500. The min settings by itself doesn't tell you everything.
