I'm really hoping that libspotify will be compiled for arm though. That would be nice, since then it would be the official supported library, which does include offline playlists.
Thanks for the fast response. Will keep my fingers crossed for libspotify.

gSpotify is not very stable though. Needs some work before it's useable.

I installed these:
apt-get install libssl-dev zlib1g-dev libvorbis-dev libtool
apt-get install libpulse-dev # For pulseaudio backend
apt-get install libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 libgstreamer0.10-dev # For GStreamer backend
apt-get install libao-dev # For libao backend

and compiled despotify before i compiled gSpotify. don't know if it's the same on N810.
despotify is here: http://despotify.se
I'm trying to compile despotify on scratchbox. What I'm doing wrong?
Code:
[sbox-FREMANTLE_ARMEL: ~/builds/despotify/src] > make
make -s -C lib -f local.mk
CC audio.c
audio.c:17:31: error: vorbis/vorbisfile.h: No such file or directory

I was missing ogg. Added following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list and installed libvorbis-dev.
Code:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ fremantle free non-free
deb-src http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ fremantle free
I was able to create .deb package, but now I got following problem when trying to install it on N900. Can anyone help me?

Code:
/media/mmc1/DCIM # dpkg -i despotify_428-1_armel.deb
(Reading database ... 22340 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace despotify 428-1 (using despotify_428-1_armel.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement despotify ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of despotify:
despotify depends on libncursesw5 (>= 5.7-1); however:
Package libncursesw5 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing despotify (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

Did you try to install libncursesw5 using apt-get?

Could any of you post me deb-package of despotify? I've problems with building it from sources and it would be much easier to have the pre-made deb-package.

I also tried to install gspotify which went ok. The problem now is that the splash screen gets stuck on loading configuration.

If any of you clever chaps manage to get a premium spotify account working on maemo (N810 diablo), with some form of offline caching support... and wish to post some nice simple install instructions here for cheapskate freeloaders like me to just install, I for one would be eternally grateful!!!

You would get your reward in heaven, and I might even buy you a few pints!

Any updates much appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Hiya,

I just got testify (a Linux spotify client) to work on my eeebuntu netbook. Is it likely to work on a N900 , could someone try it

Download the latest tar.gz file from http://xtestify.sourceforge.net/

Install it as root:

# tar zxvf testify-YYYYMMDD.tar.gz -C /

run it as /usr/local/bin/testify

TIA
