i found a page that mentions the new operational structure of Nokia:

http://www.forummobiles.com/topic/23...ial-brieffing/

It seems like meego will continue in a "Smart Devices" division, however this same division will have to create the "winning Windows Phone"... :-s where is the winning Meego Phone?...
they mention Alberto Torres will step down... who was executive vice president, "responsible for developing solutions and devices based on the MeeGo platform"
http://www.nokia.com/about-nokia/cor...alberto-torres

and Jo Harlow will take over the Smart Devices division... a Psicologist and... captain of the Division 1 women's basketball team....

http://www.nokia.com/A4254075

please tell me this is just a bad dream... Meego, dont go!!!!

Someone had a long thread about how right their predictions were about what Nokia would do. I'm not (quite) that bad-mannered. But I did say over and over that I just didn't trust Nokia. How right I was. This fits right into my perception of Nokia all along.

Look at it this way - there is a gap in the market for a phone like Meego/Maemo and HP seem to be doing well with Palms webOS (on tablet).

I knew this day would come as soon as an ex-Microsoft director joined Nokia.

Actually if I was a stockholder I would be very happy. Shares in Nokia will go up (short term).

As a consumer I am disappointed.

who knows what is going to happen to nokia in partner with MS.. they may yet be able to do it and beat other os's out there.. if everything turns out bad then we can rant all we want.. if they succeed, well other os's fanboys will rant in our place.. there is still hope.. they have a plan.. hopefully both will benefit this partnership.. and not MS only..

If the N900 was a sales failure, how do you figure there's a gap in the market for a phone like it? HP hasn't released their webOS tablet yet, so how do they seem to be doing well with webOS?

What really sucks is that we don't have any european mobile operating system any more. All are now US (forget BlackBerry)! That's alarming!!!

N900 sales failure is due to corporate stupidity.

Since HP have bought Palm they seem to look fairly promising.

The masses are buying iphones and android devices but judging by the activity in this forum people do want an open-sourced based phone. Maybe then a decent linux-based phone can have mass appeal too.

Remember the N900 and Maemo was a viable platform before Nokia decided to re-invent everything again with Meego.

Like I said corporate stupidity.
