I have been digging through threads on this topic for a day or so, now. I finally found a solution that works for me: use "Open System" instead of "Shared Key" on your router if you are using WEP.

Apparently, the N900 does not support "Shared Key" mode. The error message could be a bit more explicit!

For those who haven't a clue what the difference is between Open and Shared: they establish the connection differently, and Open is, by the consensus of The Internet, the better one to use (if you must use WEP in the first place!).

Okay I have had my n900 since December, no issues with wifi until now. Only place the Wifi never worked properly was at a friends house, well it would connect but never load a page. But that didn't bother me as I could use 3G.
I believe my problem originated from having the kernel-power-settings installed. Everything was fine until a new update came in yesterday and completely screwed up the device. I was getting internal application error for the clock, and other apps when i wasn't even using them. I restarted the device, done cold boots, uninstalled kernel-settings and still made no difference.
I have since re-flashed the firmware as well the emmc. Everything is working fine apart from WiFi which keeps giving me the "Network Connection Error". My router is the same and it has always worked with ease. I have tried the suggestions on the forums here using the killall commands & rebooting the device but it doesn't make a difference.
Also ive not installed any apps or created any new repositories since ive flashed it, so its as new. All ive done is restore my contacts only (no settings, bookmarks, calenders etc). Only thing i have installed so far is Rootsh to use the commands posted here.

Can anyone please offer any other suggestions/advice.....?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as everybody else. I've been really frustrated with this issue. Initially, everything went downhill when I installed Adblock Plus from the repositories. Upon further reading, it wasn't supposed to be touched. MicroB starting acting up and wouldn't load web pages and would just sit there. I uninstalled Adblock then.

Thinking MicroB would go back to normal after a couple of reboots produced no results and was still messing up. Upon further surveillance, I found out that I had been dropping connection, which would explain some complaints I had from my Skype contacts and that I would appear online and would go offline. I've got The One Ring installed and my texts weren't going through either and my AP news widget wouldn't refresh properly.

Now I've tried changing my power saving settings and havn't had a dropped connection since. But, it has been sucking my battery dry. Any ideas?

Hi all,

I have these problems but with a slight variation, in my home Wifi I have no problems at all but once i come to work the only things that work are the web browser and witter and barriosquare, none of the widgets refresh and most annoying is that I cannot get the email to refresh.

I have all the correct settings and passwords, there are no blocks or filters in place in work, hence web and other apps work just not emails and widgets, its really annoying.

Seems to be a lot of people having this issue here, is there anyone from the Maemo company themselves that can shed any light on this please.

Regards

Colm

Hi. When connecting to the wireless network with my mums n900 it would flash the wifi status bar icon & then give up throwing up a "Network error". I already new that I had enable MAC address filtering on my router. This whole issue caused mums n900 not to connect. You would say well that's logical. Well yeah! but my n900 connects to my router even though it's mac address isn't in the MAC Address filtering list. Figure that out! lol Anyways if someone can explain that please do otherwise I'm off to enjoy some wifiying with my mums n900, buh bye. I hope this helps!
