I can confirm that MPLAYER can show cyrillic subtitles. Small configuration is needed:
in
/home/user/.mplayer/config
edit file: 'config' with some text editor, Leafpad for example
add next line in 'config'
subcp=cp1251
save file and it is OK.
it should be work for all languages code tables

I have playback problems in all video files in the phone, the ones that came with it and one .avi I've added.

They lag a lot, and especially when there is lot of sound happening on the video. When theres little sound, like crickets making little chirps, no lagging. But when orchestra starts playing, video freezes for seconds. Also I found that when you turn the sound lower - less lagging, no sound at all - no lagging.

And I recently hooked up the phone to my TV and played the videos and no lagging what so ever cause the phone didn't output the sound itself. Anyone met problem like this, or can point me in a direction to get this solved?

Do you use microsd card by any chance? Coz I use one and its Class 4 and sometimes it automatically changes to micro sd for saving recorded videos and that's when I have problems. However, N900 has always suffered frame drops since day 1 but here I mean video freezing for quite longer and quite often.

I don't use an SD card. Just record straight to the internal storage. I record at max resolution and my phone is OC'd to 1000MHz.

My Media player has worked perfectly since I got it, and after PR1.2 update. Only time it had any problems was when I got a text message and the video would race forward while the sound stayed constant. Also if I was watching a film then once the key lock kicked in it became difficult to get the user controls back. Tapping the screen didnt seem to do much. However, in the last few weeks it has started sticking and jumping all over the place even in offline mode. Only way to sort it is to close media player and reopen. I even had to reboot the other day. I dont understand why its been working so smoothly and now there's a problem. I havent overclocked it or anything. I did install SIB as wanted to be able to open a text without stopping the film. Could this be affecting it? Incedently SiB doesnt work very well either and never did!
Cheers guys, I lok forward to you solving my issue!!!!!!
