Because nobody showed up with these intentions so far. Good idea, and I'm happy to correspond if someone qualified feels it can be done. In the blog post Donald (who *is* someone qualified) has little hope, but then again we have seen in this community developers doing wonders where others had surrendered or not even tried...

I don't think this should be an option. It's 25 phones per program.

@Quim Gil
If you're not sure about the remaining candidates, you could ask more questions to them.

Full disclosure: I'm not sure whether to choose from the remaining ones or wait for more candidates. Various reasons:

- I left some questions to the candidate but no answer so far.
- In some cases the Nokia Store entry is "not available in your country" and I can't check.
- Unclear Qt experience.
- Not strong focus in the areas where Qt 5 makes a whole difference.ç
- Some projects are based on Python and I have no idea about the status of Python bindings and, in any case, I'm not really enthusiastic about pushing these types of projects at this stage.

What do you think? Candidates accepted or not plus followers of this thread: opinions are welcome.
Hi Quim,

Please don't misunderstand me: I do trust your judgement and am very thankful for all the opportunities that you have provided me... but... I don't think all the "remaining ones" match the criteria above so there must also be other considerations (what is perfectly fine but was not clear in your post)

I don't think I do and I am surprised if Juhapekka Piiroinen does (I didn't check the others, this is just a name that jumped out).

As for me, that is why:
  • I didn't reply to your questions - but you didn't ask me any
  • My 4 applications are in the Nokia Store and should be available everywhere
  • I have to believe that I have good Qt experience. Have developed and published Qt applications for maemo, meego, symbian and playbook. Not that it proves anything but I have also been certified by Nokia as a Qt Specialist and have two applications in the Ambassadors program
  • One of my applications, GApp, is based on WebKit and uses a custom QML/Webkit Component I created. It is only goal is to "fill the gapp" between the "google apps" experience on the "n9 standard browser" and the iphone/android experience. WebKit makes all this very easy and the WebKit2 in Qt5 probably will help reduce the gapp even further.
  • My projects are all Qt+QML

BTW, I am about to publish a new Qt/QML application for Harmattan that also relies on WebKit and json. I am very proud of it and have invested a lot of time on it. If you are interested you can find some information and screenshots at http://www.crochik.com/geeps2.

Again, I really appreciate the work and thought you put into all these program and am not trying to discuss your criteria or decisions.

Best Regards,
Felipe

I think I have answered your question . Besides I have 2 apps in qt ambassador program , vChat and WaveRadio . And i have been playing with qt since version 3.0. Now all my apps on ovi store for N9 are constructed with qt quick.

Thank you for the feedback, it was useful.

We have 25 submissions accepted.

Thank you very much to the rest of candidates. There are still other device seeding activities ongoing and you are invited to join them.

MISSION COMPLETED. Well, quite. Now we need to make sure that you get the devices.

What about starting a new thread to discuss these Qt 5 projects and support each other?

We have 17 N9 and 8 N950. More people had requested N9 so I had to make compromises. See the proposal at http://wiki.maemo.org/Summer%2712_De...jects#Accepted

A good reason NOT to receive an N950 is to have one already, and no N9 at hand. Let me know.

I will send these 25 requests for a device to my colleague at developer.nokia.com by the end of Monday.

Idea: perhaps we could ask the other device seeding activities, and if there's one where the people want more N950s, we could swap them?

I was given an N950 at last year's meego.com device program. It's a great device, but it'd be nice to work with the N9 too. Besides, I don't know what I could possibly do with two N950s.

(Before anyone starts making suggestions, I don't consider selling either of them as an option... and it'd be illegal anyway.)

That's awesome.
If I'm in Finland at the time you guys send the device, can I have it sent there? (I'm staying in Tampere for a week, starting at 12th June; for the Devaamo summit.)

We are already getting some more N9 after swapping with Code Competition.

I'll try to arrange the delivery by hand to you since those devices are actually in Tampere... Thank you for the suggestion.

A kind of boring question here:

When can we expect the devices to be sent? I'm hoping to "mess-up" with the delivered device with this program, and I have the most free time during the week 25 (17th - 25th). So I'm pretty much hoping it'd arrive for that time window.

Not a huge thing, if it doesn't arrive to that time window I'll likely anyway start doing at least preliminary work during that time.

On unrelated note:

I'm hoping we accepted to this program will start a thread to collaborate on practical guides about Qt5 libs on Harmattan and QtCreator. If no one else does it before me, I'll start a topic once I've set-up it up myself.
