My guess would be that taxes in EU are higher, but IIRC the price Intex announced did not include taxes either.

Source? Mind that the system on Jolla C is different than on the Intex Aqua Fish,

Don't you think that Jolla will 3d-print backcover in finland and flash their fw on every phone?

Well, that's what they did with the first one (even though they could have let the Chinese manufacturer flash it as well). Also it's quite unclear when the Intex phone will go on sale so this phone might be in Jolla's responsibility software-wise. They might even use the feedback from this beta group to adjust the final Intex phone, as features like dual sim are completely new to SailfishOS.

Additionally, I think that Jolla might want to tie individual phones to developer's account to prevent resale, so this would again be better done in their facilities.

On the other hand, the "order cannot be changed" clause would suggest it could go straight from India, so we'll see. I still don't think Jolla will make much money (if any) on this device, though

No 3rd party apps = No Alien Dalvik = No way to run Android app.

And it's too big.

Well, I could have a European friend order one, but, for me too small, specs not that great. Looks like only 3G data in US. I would have taken it lieu of tablet refund. Regardless, I'm happy for those that get one to play around with. Should be fun being on the cutting edge!

I'm curious what version of Android is supported and how about the battery life.
I'm more curious if this device will support android runtime in the near future. Of course not now

Ordered one as my N9 is aging and Jolla has a broken class.

Could the Intex release be delayed after the monsoon/summer, and the 1000 sets of Jolla Cs and their users be around to help Jolla to finalise the Sailfish for this HW?

Complete fiction of course...

Cut to scene in Hong Kong where a Finnish executive picks up his iPhone...

caller: "Hi, It's Spontex. We're not going to bother with the Pondfish"

Exec: "But you're our last hope. We're screwed without hardware."

Spontex: "It's not worth it. Nobody is going to buy a phone that's a year out of date and your software is late and buggy."

Exec: "Oh please stay"

Spontex: "Make it worth our while. We've got a 1000 cheesey Pondfish phones gathering dust waiting on your software and we can't even just flash them with Android as we stuck that new logo on the back"

Exec: "How about I get our Finnish company to buy the 1000 off you and sell them at an inflated price to those schmucks in Europe that still think we're viable?"

Spontex: "Even they will realise the phone is a cheap shoddy job and we'll be landed with returns"

Exec: "ok, no warranty and it's a developer device so we can say it's not all supposed to work. We'll get the community to do support on it"

Spontex: "Yeah, that'll work. Done."
