Tuesday of next week is looking likely.

Sounds good to me. I wonder if this will just be a fix for the memory card issue, a new version of Bora or the first version of Chinook.

That makes sense, week 34 was near the end of August which is when the device was tested for the FCC.

Good catch, I didn't think of the week number. The format is w.xxxx.yy-z and my guess is that w is the release number, xxxx is the year and/or OS version, yy is the release week (as zerojay pointed out) and maybe "-z" is build number. So I wonder if the "0." in the firmware for this new tablet means that it's an alpha firmware? Did the N800 ship with "1.2006.yy-z" firmware with "2.2006.51-6" being the second firmware (first firmware update after release)?

It is primarily a hotfix for the memory card issue. The Chinook is coming later...

I've always understood (not sure why) that the dates are based on the build rather than release dates, but I could be wrong.

In which case xxxx is the build year - and it's completely unrelated to the OS version, which is an unfortunate (but incorrect) coincidence in most cases. w.xxxx.yy-z is really just a unique file naming convention and not a version number as such - any relationship to the IT OS naming system (OS 2006, OS 2007, OS 2008 etc.) is purely coincidental and most likely unintentional (I assume it's uninentional as it's bl00dy confusing most of the time!)

I'd agree that "0." represents unreleased or early "alpha" firmware - the N800 shipped with 2.2006.51-6 (though some units had 2.2006.51-8 which was never made available for download).

"0.2007" sounds like it's a new firmware which is incompatible with the current N800, otherwise they might be using "5.2007.yy-z". The full firmware filename includes the device code which allows Nokia to reset the version number for the new device, eg. the full filename for the N800's 4.2007.26-8 firmware is

Code:
RX-34_2007SE_4.2007.26-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
I'd take a punt and say this new device firmware is

Code:
RX-44_2008SE_0.2007.34-9_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
