I'd start with configuring a web connection, and then view this site: http://www.gronmayer.com/it/index.ph...&system=maemo3
and click on all the green arrows. Then your applications manager will have plenty of repositories configured and you'll have loooads of programs to choose from.

Even easier than clicking on umpteen green arrows: Select "select all repositories" and click "install selected"...

1: wait for the conformation e-mail
2: read e-mail and wait for it to ship.
3: get shipping notification, read that
4: check tracking...
5: same as 4:
6: repeat....

New to the forum and am currently waiting for my tablet (should arrive the 24th)
I guess the first thing I am going to do after the initall setup is upload some of the tons of e-books I downloaded that I never have a chance to sit at my PC and read.

then after that?.. who knows.

I will be getting the N800 for Christmas (the misses wont let me open it now ). I have been thumbing through this site for a few weeks and have come up with the following initial todo list:

1. Install OS2008
2. Install 8GB and 4GB SDHC cards
3. Set up repositories.
4. Install Apps (xterm, word processor, media apps, pdf viewer, IM)
5. Connect the N800 to my cell phone via Pdanet
6. Back up this "clean" set up.

If there is any thing goofy|wrong|ordered wrong|missing in the list, please let me know.

Browse to and bookmark favorite webcam sites (local beaches, Times Sq., etc.).

It's fun to pull out the N800 from your pocket and impress friends by saying "Let's see what they're doing at the beach, NYC, New Orleans...." etc.

Kind'a invokes the myths or fairly tales of having a "magic mirror," or "gazing crystal" in the palm of your hand.

If I could just get peekaboo working correctly, or had someone to video chat with, it'd be even more impressive. But I did once secretly snap a pic of a friend and emailed it to his Touch while he was still talking.

Also, instead of just trying to describe favorite movies, videos, music, newstories, etc.you can just show people what you are talking about.
