Another Site to keep up with Blogs on the IT using an iPhone URL, so you don't need to change user agent on the IT browser itself

NETVIBES : http://iphone.netvibes.com
FACEBOOK : http://iphone.facebook.com

Looks great but doesn't seem to work. The videos are displayed without all the distraction side bars. When you click on a video it tries to play it with Media Player which replies that video.3gp is an unknown format. From my windoze desktop it doesn't seem to work either (bad link?). Or is this all Leopard only video?

PS another trick I use even on my desktop for forums, is Archive. Look down at the bottom right of this page, click on Archive. It's a quick way to get right to a thread you are following.

The Youtube mobile content video stream a speciial "flavor" of H.263, known as H.263 98. Not supported by the media player.

Myth: value = "blank" does not restore the browser to the default value.

I went back to my original post and modified the hack. (Also added easy-to-use bookmarks for quickly switching back and forth.)

So, something I have noticed: The Google search page just doesn't look the same here with iPhone user agent as it does on the real thing. (Note fancy buttons on top for Reader, Calendar and Gmail). Presumably, these are CSS changes applied within the iPhone's browser rather than by Google themselves. Has anyone achieved this effect by changing userContent.css?

As for reverting user agent the clean way, you can manually edit ~/.mozilla/microb/prefs.js and delete the line with user_pref("general.useragent.override", ...

Thank you, but could you explain how to use the "code" which appears in the post as a bookmark? I manually copied and pasted the strings into the URL of a pair of bookmarks, but I'm not sure if that's what was intended and the browser seems to be struggling to process the string. However, it did work because I can open the mobile version of nytimes.com .

open /home/user/.mozilla/microb/prefs.js find and delete the line with vi or some other text editor.

FYI, you can add things this way too and its generally faster than about:config.

My own addition to the list:

For those looking for some more useful apps, in particular a Stock Ticker app (liek the iPhone application)

Fidelity Stock app - http://iphone.fidelitylabs.com/index.php (need to change user agent to iphone useragent)
StockWatch - http://iphone.toughturtle.com/stockwatch/

A nice to have - Movies near you - and theater finder and movie times
http://iphone.movies.aol.com/

For those in New York here a nice NYC Transit app (doubt it will be useful when you are actually underground and there is no wifi or cellular connection there).
http://www.itransit.net/#_Itransit

Similar app for those in California
http://icaltrain.com/iphone.php

And maybe this was mentioned somewhere (since I used that tip for myself, though we already have OmWeather
iPhone weather - http://albinoblacksheep.com/iphone/weather/

and now Google Talk for iPhone -
able to run on the NIT, as its a browser based app.
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/0...lk-for-iphone/

Didn't give the link, since this is redundant for the NIT's really - what with the chat cleint supporting GTalk already - but just for the info ...

Another nice weather page designed specificly for iphone
http://apple.accuweather.com/widget/iphone1/iphone.html

Click on the icons on the top right to toggle views:hourly, 5 day, radar. This would look better rotated, though.
