I have a problem installing Canola2 on the n770 with 2007HE

I followed the steps outlined on your website, click the Canola2 download link, click 'open'. The file is downloaded and application manager opens up, but when I 'ok' the install I get this error :

Conflict with application packages : downloadmanager0-server

Any suggestions?

@Benz, Laughing man... Etc:
Music not playing : We think "atabake" our media engine is acting strange.. or something was not "updated" in the update. if you guys can try to do a full removal (like using apt-get on command line) like
apt-get -f install

And after that do a real reboot (no power cable one) ... does it still not playing sounds?

Music and Podcasts: those are the sensible ones in this updates because we changed a lot the music player and the download manager. Sorry for the trouble but it was the only way to "hit" the bugs.

We are trying to see how to make sure everyone has the right dependencies on place (this should be guaranteed by the application manager).

@benz : the unnable to install canola probably has a message in the log.. can you send us ?

@rdcinhou : I will check the png issues... I remember there was a real serious bug with the thumbnailer and pngs, maybe that was what left thumbnails out...

@mwiktowy : interesting this sounds like a "regular" bug that we must have introduced with the player. Can you open a bug on garage?

@Denvar : we are updating the download maanger... if you could kill it from the terminal before installing.. would it help ? I will also push the message to the guys to see how it goes.

Guys, I would like to ask a small thing :
When telling us the problem you're facing, send us always the basic info as you're doing now and also :

1) if happenend in application installer : send us the log messages. Log is located in the menu of the application installer
2) if happened on canola: try rebooting, and running it from xterm with -vv as argument. And sending us also (can be just the final part... not everything, or where you see something like "Error" "Bug"
3) tell us what kind of repositories do you have, did you have canola2 already installed etc.

Thanks! We will try to fix those things asap, seems that the music part is critical but is happening to half of people.. not to other half... We are trying to figure out Why?

Hi I tried to update from beta1 to beta2 and got the following message.

Unable to install canola2
Conflict with application packages: downloadmanager0-server

I uninstalled, rebooted and tried a fresh install but still get the same error.

I am running OS2007 on N800.

Thanks

Hi Amm3140 :

Before trying to re-install, do yoi know how to kill the download manager?
try typing on the xterm :

ps ( it will help you find out the pid for the downloadmanager )
kill -9 pid (the pid that you just found out)

Let me know if it helps

Marcelo

I had exactly same issue with my Nokia 770 where I had already had Canola 1 and attempted to install Canola 2 beta 1 in past. I am currently in process of a complete OS2006 re-install, not suggesting you do this but will tell you how I get on.

---edit---

Reinstalled OS2006, then the hotfix for the potential Wi-Fi/mmc corruption issue i.e. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=11824

Then installed Canola 2 beta for Gregale OS2006 from Canola Website and now Canola is running just fine on OS2006
(I ensured that the memory swap file was enabled via control panel, "max 56Mb" as I believe this will help Canola)

Thank you to all the Canola team for working hard to get a running version of Canola 2 beta for OS2006!! Looks good on Nokia 770!!

Same issue here - I ununstalled Calona 2 on my N810 and tried reinstalling Calona2 beta version but application manager complains

"Unable to install. Software comtains updates to packages from a different source and is likely to harm the system. Contact the author."

This happens even after restart. To note, initially I had installed Calola from another 3rd part repo (when maemo was down).

Another pointer is, I am getting this same error also when updating pwsafe (but not with all apps).
Any pointers or help ?

Hi, unfortunately application manager on OS2007 canīt deal with conflicting packages. You must uninstall downloadmanager0-server and libdownloadmanager0 manually via xterm (as root) wuth:

# apt-get remove downloadmanager0-server libdownloadmanager0

You can also remove these packages using red pill mode in application manager.

After removing, you should be able to install Canola2 without problems.

Best regards, Etrunko

do downloadmanager0-server and libdownloadmanager0 belong to canola2 or part of the os/maemo or what?

Assume this is same way to resolve for OS2006 users?
