ethergaurd: You are right, there must be a mechanism to turn this into a useful name. I will look through the documentation on localization in Maemo and see if I find anything. I have never done localization work before, so we will see how I do.

I have updated the program as reflected in the first post of this thread.

If anyone has any issues, let me know. Specifically if you come across a combination of menu entries and minimum rows that creates a third column please post the criteria that cause this situation.

I know it is really annoying to have the strange names Nokia supplies with their applications listed in the "Select from installed applications" list, but from what I have read there is not a full intltool solution for this yet. If anyone knows a way to translate these in a C program, please let me know.

Also, I don't think I fixed anything in how the programs are launched, so problems like the showui one listed elsewhere in this thread are probably still present.

Enjoy.

Thank you for this Command navigator improvement! Personal menu looks really promising, I will probably start to use it myself.

However, as the author of Command navigator, I would like to make one thing clear. Looking at the screenshots, it looks like you may have used some parts of Command navigator code. If this is the case, you have to comply with the GPLv2 license and publish your source codes (or make them in any other way available to anybody who downloaded the binary). So, please either clarify that you haven't used any part of Command navigator, or publish the source code under GPLv2.

Note that GPLv2 doesn't allow you to take time to polish the source code - you're required to make it available as soon as you publish the binary.

Thanks for your nice work and don't let this thing discourage you - I just care about licenses, that's all :-)

Jiri: Thanks for the comment. I have the source uploaded at the associated garage page now. I was just waiting for it to complete registration.

I don't know much about all the different versions of open source licensing, so if there is anything else I need to do to comply, clue me in.

Also, thanks for the excellent program. The control panel applet must be what looks so familiar. I tried to write my own code as much as possible, but that layout was too good to pass up. I hope I am not stepping on your toes with this application.

No at all, thanks a lot for publishing the source code! As I said, I like Personal menu and plan to start using it instead of Command navigator.

hell, with the icons it allows me to put modest (when we get it working) where the current mail app is right now. who needs to wait for it to become a official part of maemo?

I installed personal menu without problems. But, when I go to control panel, panels I cannot get the check box to activate. I tried installing cmd-navigator and got the same result. Any idea??

Uncheck one of the other ones first.

Use modest showui instead of modest -showui in Personal Manager and it seems to work fine.
