For better results max out the refresh interval in your rss reader.

I love apple takes other people stuff and puts there name on it. Come on they took nokia device and made part of it better. PART...

Why would I want a device with internal only men? How many ipods break. Everyone I know who had an ipod had to by a new one less then one year becuase they always break.

Thats a fact too. 10 people I know all had to replace there ipods in some way by design. Batteries fail and cost you 60$+ to get a new one. N800 battery 4$ on ebay brand new.
.
Ummm no. I've had my 20 GB iPod for quite some time now. Learned the hard way that dropping HD based iPods is a bad idea. Not Apple's fault. Also for some reason people think it's a good idea to have their iPods out and about in sub freezing temperatures. Never mind the clear warning that such temperatures are sure to kill the battery. You freeze your iPod, expect to replace your battery within 6 months after the event.
I've replaced my battery, myself for far less than $60. Now the whole "send the product to Apple because the battery is soldered to the motherboard is a BAD MOVE on Apple's part. And a $4 new Nokia battery? It's not stolen?

Actually I did that some time ago to reclaim battery life. The problem here is that file system access interrupts music playback in a huge way which underscores the issue brought up by the original poster about the multitasking issues.

If I'm not mistaken, that's going to be the case with the official SDK. Of course the BSD core underneath supports multitasking (if you install the BSD subsystem, you can use top or ps in terminal to see running process). But currently there are (unofficial) 3rd party apps that run in the background (Apollo IM client, Ants, etc).

Well lets be realistic. It just has a max of 400mhz. And i can open two browser windows, check the rss feeds, keep contact through im and listen to internet radio. I think that is good enough for me. And even though i dont see any other device in the same league which can do half of all these. If so show me one with the same battery, mobility and screen size. WHen there are none how do you expect this to do everything by the nokia?
Well if you really dont want to multi-task you made a mistake buying the internet tablets. It is a mini computer not a standalone pmp.

For some reason? Perhaps the reason is that some people live in areas where the temperature drops below freezing quite frequently?

I don't plan on moving just to make a gadget happy.

Not to be merely facetious, but expect to be disappointed frequently as devices grow increasingly sensitive to weather extremes (and they are). It isn't just iPods, Itouches or internet tablets-- this is a pervasive issue.

I just wanted to say thanks for the review, and that everyone saying they are in different categories and shouldn't be compared, I actually found out about the internet tablets while searching for the lowest priced Ipod touch, in my opinion these things have actually helped the tablet with these posts

There's nothing wrong with comparing per se. It's the naive remarks that the products should be viewed as identical but with different "flaws" with which many of us take issue.

Everyone else has different configs on their IT, I am sure and the memory available will vary.

But for me, before I go to sleep, I always have Canola in the backgroud playing my mp3's, while I open 2 browser windows - checking out my facebook page, and other news sites on it, as well as refreshing my Omweather applet to have the latest weather forecast for the next day ready, and am also downloading the new podcasts for the day on Canola as Canola plays my mp3's during this whole session.

Seems quite a lot of tasks, but again as long as you keep it within the contrains of the processor and memory availability, its all good. The fact that it supports multi-tasking is the factor here. Of course there will be a limit to multi-tasking practicallity on a small 400MHz device.

Then again, if I started A2DP hack to on, and try listening to music over BT, then crash, bang, burn - everything comes to a standstill. But that is a documented fact of the A2DP hack.

Yes, the built-in RSS reader is also very memory and CUP cycle intensive, so much so that I do not user it. Rather I open my Google reader page.
Again as I said, to each user thier own vagaries of IT usage.
