Xkbd now works perfect on my end after finding a temp fix for it all.

I mailed my never been used BT keyboard to Bundyo awhile back and have yet to regret it (mostly because I didn't know how to install it).

To me, you're weird for carrying around the extra gear.

Nope, it's in extras-devel for Diablo as well:

Oh yeah!

Thanks a bunch jaffa!

I've installed tf before and really enjoyed it about a year ago.

Now that I'm more familiar with getting Xterm to display 800x480 rather than 798x478 and a working Xkbd keyboard in addition, I'll definitely give this a revisit.

Any favorite servers you could recomend jaffa?

I'm not Jaffa, but I have played quite a few muds at some time or another.

I enjoyed
Ancient Anguish [anguish.org 2222] (lp mud)
(smaller sized mud, separate races, guilds, Classic D&D classes (necromancers, rogues, mages, fighters, paladins, rangers, shapeshifters)

Batmud [bat.org 23] (diku mud)
(Huge Finnish community robust player killing community, not very easy to get started, but very very open ended and very large)

Zombiemud [zombiemud.org 23] (diku mud)
(Huge community, very open ended, easier start but similar to batmud)

3 Kingdoms [3k.org] (LP Mud) I am also currently playing here
(Large community, combined guilds/classes, no races, large variety of guilds and powers. Some classic D&D- Mages, necromancers, Knights, monks, priests. Some Chaos - Jedis, changelings, breed. Some Science Fiction - Fremen [Frank Herbert Dune style], Juggernauts [Battletech] and some others.)

3 Kingdoms seems to have kept my interest the most out of those, mostly because it is an LP mud, and also for the huge variety of critters and classes. But any of the above would be fun, depending on your desired level of challenge.

Peace

Will

Thanks wstutt!

I gave 3 Kingdoms a try tonight. Not bad at all!

I'll check it out a few more times but I have a feeling that having such a small, touch screen keyboard that I won't be able to type commands fast enough. Also, having a N800, there's not that many hardware keys I can bind for macro commands.

I think I'm at around 50-60 keystrokes per minute without typos.

That's probably going to eventually land me in trouble. *lol*

Any other possible servers to mention that are slowed way down for us handicap people?

3 Kingdoms has a serious level of automation that you won't find elsewhere.

once you get to level 5 and join a guild.. every guild has a panic heal and an automatic "do some stuff every round" command.

How did you get all of those shortcuts and a numeric keypad onscreen? Are they touch selectable?

I'm using Xkbd.
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=408688&postcount=1

It's just a keyboard, not shortcuts.

Xkbd can only send one letter at a time so it's not possible to create a touch screen shortcut key to something like "search".

Actually, it could be done in combination with xbindkeys.

That would take some time though in putting it all together.

In Xterm I also have set this command:
stty rows 24

This way, text won't be written beneath the keyboard.

There's also another flat keyboard that could be used if you're looking to make shortcut keys.

If you're interested in making some shortcut keys, I could always help you with that.

Interesting. I believe the hard keyboard will be fine.

You can also set up key macros in tinyfugue instead of having global keybindings. Like what I did above wiith the keypad enter.

If you decide to continue playing 3k let me know and I can lend a hand or advice.

Thanks!

Yeah, time is quite limited for me but I'll look into the game a few more times to see if it's something I'd be willing to play long term.

What's your currrent character like in 3K?
