Well, yes. You wouldn't want to do this unless you seriously trust them. OTOH, the principal alternative is establishing your own SSH tunnel through whatever firewall you might be behind, and running VNC over that, and keeping the whole thing secure; it's a matter of how much I trust their morals/ethics/fear-of-law vs. how much I trust my knowledge/skill/intelligence in setting up mine. (Of course, I'm a computer geek, and we've never been stereotypically conceited, overconfident and paranoid, so it's a really hard decision...) Yeah, I set up my own!

EDIT: See below, perhaps I'm indeed paranoid; I guess they use your keys, so it's clean. I still set up my own, so there!

Logmein do not have access to the local PWD on the machine since the authentification occurs at the machine. They do have access to your account when you connect to the site but that's all.

I don't use the service, so maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't the authentication pass through their servers, with possibility of a man-in-the-middle? That's what I thought was going on, anyway.

well - you basically login to your account and there have access to your enabled machines (machines that are running the client). The login process is between you and the client via encrypted line. So yes - the data passes through logmein, but is encrypted from end to end.

OK, one more question: You get to generate your own keys, I hope? If so, I'm fully wrong and paranoid.

Logmein is great. I'm on vacation and I cant get through the hotel firewall nth VNC. Logmein has been a lifesaver for my business. I am highly dependent on remote access.
