If it is, click "edit" and uncheck the "Disabled" checkbox.

If you don't have "maemo extras" at all, click the New button and add the following:

Code:
Catalog name: maemo extras (diablo)
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distribution: diablo
Components: free non-free
Click OK and let the application catalogs refresh. Now you should be able to install those dependencies. Note that you MAY have to do it from the command line (i.e. xterm).

Code:
sudo gainroot # or whatever method you use to become root
apt-get install python2.5-gnome python2.5-pygame python2.5-dbus
Thanks for that - it sorted out my issue as well.

This just can't be. Nobody should need to root around in his tablet: this is completely unacceptable for an end user.

Can someone PLEASE explain the "proper" way on how I must setup the deb? Or do I even need to create an .install file?
I've now spent someting like 10% of the time on the app itself and 90% on integrating it properly and packaging it...

twaelti is right that end users like me (a real newbie) to have to go about installing mClock with root; i did try again going thru difference suggestions but no luck. can someone also let me know if my list of catalog is in conflict with each other being that there are 2 sets of maemo extras, one belonging to Chinook and the other to Diablo? Should they both be there or only one of them!?

in the mean time thanks everyone for trying to help me do this installation. i really appreciate your patience.

When I try to run mClock I get the error "cannot import the name gconf". This on a
N800 with Diablo. I have reinstalled python several times and that does not seem t change anything.

...and the [Details] button should, at that point, tell you why it was unable to install...

No, the details button says it's installable and everything looks good. Click Okay, agree to the non nokia software warning, the bar graph to install pops up for a split second, then the "Unable to isntall mClock" diaglog shows.

I've got 810/Diablo, loaded with every repository I can find and also have the Python Launcher app installed. I went to the Twaelti / Tomch blog page and downloaded mClock from there as he instructed. It installed just fine and I am one happy camper again. Many, Many thanks to Tomch and I appreciate the time and frustrating effort he puts in.
BTW, I also like his "tabletSearch" MIS plugin for the desktop searchbar. Additionally, I have the tabletSearch gadget installed on my iGoogle page. Very handy.
.
Until now, I didn't know that MediaBox had a clock display inside of it. (Who would of thought??) I always liked the clean, slick interface of MediaBox, but for a clock I prefer the mClock since it stands alone....you paste it's applet into Personal Launcher and you've got instant access from the desktop. Plus, the numbers are BIGGER in mClock!!!
.
So my 810/Diablo bedside ensemble is coming together: Kagu has a sleep timer to shut off the tunes, mClock for the wee hours, and then the tablet's built-in alarm.

Lucky kenny. enjoy your mClock. i think i'm giving up installing it for now after having exhausted myself and irritating the experts who tried to help me on this forum. hopefully OS2008 for N800 will have their next update to make it easier for us newbies. thanks everyone for your time. one day in the near future i hope i can do the same for the new newbies.
