This cost will depend on the final cost of the parts and the labor needed to put them together but it less that $60.00 US no memory included.

Tilt sensor would be very nice :-)

Depends on price but I'm definitely interested in slightly thicker cover with sd/mmc and usb interface under cover. And also just in the SD/MMC cable alone for usage with normal cover (I hope you don't plan to attach SD card via USB too).

craves1,
couple of points about your extension.

Is the memory upgrade going to connect via the usb or via the MMC slot?

if you do extend via the usb, is it feasible to do so without interupting the kickstand?
is it feasible to add a passthrough usb connector onto the base so we don't lose the functionality?

I think people are clamouring for tilt sensors even more than extra memory.

It sounds good whichever way you manage it.
All the best with your venture.

The memory upgrade for the flash memory and possible tilt sensor would connect to the USB port but the SD will not.

You would not loose the kick stand in any way.

I know how to make it so you do not loose the connection to the external USB connector when it is needed.

Thanks

This is making me wonder if the four test points on the left side underneath the battery cover are usb lines. IIRC the 770 had serial lines under the battery door.

gultig, there are apparantly 2 kinds of pins on the underbelly of the n810

there is an actual serial port and an additional usb port.

Mmmmm...personally $60 for the adapter alone maybe a bit steep. Iam sure you find a bunch of people on here that would spend that, but for a wider appeal, I would think that $30-50max would be easier to swallow (when you consider the cost of memory on top of that. I am not suggesting that this isn't reasonable for a high quality adapter (which it sounds like you are creating) just giving you my thoughts on what would be worth it for me.

Anyone actually had success with a SD card reader in their n810??
Yes but so far only one. It's a small multi card reader from DealExtreme. It reads my 16gb SDHC cards fine. I have tried many single card readers and not found one that works.
