I expressed my understanding with 100% accuracy. If it's not true, it was still my understanding.

By the way, the fact that Reggie was "hoping" to run the discussions is not exactly a definitive statement that he IS running the discussions. And, in addition, "running the discussions" is considerably less than he has been doing here, and it means that he is losing control of the big tamale, at best.

My impression was and is that Reggie saying he was hoping to run the discussions, followed by NO ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANY KIND that he was indeed going to run the discussions made it look ominously like he is NOT doing so.

It's like the wife saying, "you do love me, don't you dear?" And the husband saying "Hey, how about those Lakers!"

At least the people that started discussing in this thread about the status of Tablet Scene and the idea of closing the site down. Most people seemed to agree but there was no conclusion.

Let's co-ordinate it with whatever announcement/launch/thingy happens with talk.maemo.org:

Canonical URL & name for ITT becomes talk.maemo.org at the same time that tabletscene.com is shut down/redirected to tmo.

OK. Can we correct your understanding: Reggie is still going to be the primary owner and admin of talk.maemo.org; Nokia are paying the bills and additional moderators have volunteered to keep spam under control.

I still think it's completely unnecessary and dumb (and very possibly harmful, as I have claimed) to dismantle this successful site and replace it with one as planned, but it's nice to know that Reggie will be running it.

Moderators to control spam -- that's great, but not very interesting, since it is obviously a good idea worth five seconds' thought.

The change is a new name and a new theme. So, same management, same servers, same menu. New paint, new tablecloths, new neon out front. No dismantling.
