Screen size may well be a showstopper for many people.

When I saw that in the spec my heart sank...

When microB is in window mode, the diagonal of it measures about 3.5'' without the title. I dare anyone who thinks it is possible to browse like that, to try so on the rest of this thread.
That half inch is not important if you don't read much on the device, makes it less of a computer and more of a phone. It will be nice phone, but there are better tablets around.

Just buy an unlocked non-subsidised model - like any other phone that has ever existed.

t-mobile exists in the uk too, and if that particular tie-in is just for the usa, that usually means some other partner here in the same way.

that also usually means that "an unlocked non-subsidised model" is hard to come by for quite some time (unless you live in France I believe) and is also a damn sight more expensive!

Personally, i don't think I care anymore. I'm happy with a very small phone and a separate larger (4 inch) screen device to browse the net and watch vid content. If I wanted a phone in this form factor I'd have hopped on the iPhone bandwagon a long time ago. I'm just really, really disappointed that Nokia are hopping on it now and it seems doubly foolish for them to have waited such a long time to do it too.

From innovators in the NIT form factor they are now imitators in the iphone class, in which apple has a wild head start.

The only funny thing to possibly come out of this will be an apple iTablet to come out very soon, taking the NIT form factor and fixing all the software probs, and then to see Nokia take another 18 months chasing that tail...

This is what exactly happened in2004 when nokia decided to stop developing the nokia 7710. It was a wide screen touch phone for some weird reason nokia dropped development. The iphone came and stole all the limelight. I hope nokia learns from that mistake and keeps the tablet concept.

As for memory, the current limit for omap3-based devices is 256MB RAM. There's 512MB RAM in sampling, but even TI themselves haven't started testing that yet. It's very unlikely that any production device could have more than 256MB this year.

Benson: I'm already always holding my N800 at my near-focus limit, so wether the difference is 10% or 37% doesn't matter - no can do.
