Compatible with phones and devices supporting stereo music streaming over Bluetooth wireless technology. The speakers support Bluetooth specification v 2.0 + EDR (with A2DP and AVRCP)
". . . devices SUPPORTING stereo music streaming over Bluetooth . . ."

I think that part is the key. It doesn't necessarily say that it is compatible with all phones and devices over BT but it says that it is compatible with devices that SUPPORT streaming over BT. The question then becomes: Does the N810 support stereo music streaming over Bluetooth?

From earlier in the thread:
It's clear that the speakers are useless in bluetooth mode because N810 doesn't support A2DP
So I guess the N810 does not support that type of stereo streaming over BT.

One more thing: When you use "I" as the nominative singular pronoun it really needs to be capitalized.

"S M C"
Now that is just uncalled for. Seriously, you are just being infantile here. People (me included) were trying to be helpful. Just because you didn't read the fine print on something or try to understand the capabilities of your device doesn't mean that you are entitled to get what you want. Just because you want something to be doesn't make it so. You said you had experience with providing service:
done so for 30 years-i have learnt my lessons on business practices and providing service-
Then you should know more than anyone that not everyone can get what they want. You should also know that it is not the fault of the service provider when someone wants something that does not coincide with reality. I am going to get off my soap box now, but seriously, don't be a jerk.

It depends on how you define "support". The hardware can do it. After following directions, I was able to do it. But it isn't pre-installed and ready to roll.

I guess strictly speaking then I would say that it doesn't support it. I would say that if it was pre-installed (or provided in an update) then it would be supported. If not then I would say no, it isn't supported. But that is just me.

Do they have the death penalty in your state?

I don't think that's true. Actual dyed-in-the-wool Nokia "fanboys" are pretty rare, even here -- I thought that term was copyright by Apple, anyway -- are you sure you aren't violating a trademark here?

It's true that Maemo recently claimed victory in an election that was disputed, but street demonstrations continue...

As a consumer (especially in the internet age), it's in your own best interest to do additional research. I had (still do, but don't really use it now) a Palm T|X and a BT stereo headset. Before buying my N810, I wanted to know if my headset would still work, so I googled around and found this site. It was clear that it wasn't plug-and-play, but I felt up to the task.

I've been around long enough to know that when a retailer says that something is "compatible," there is always a fine print (and Nokia does include some fine print). I've dealt with winmodems and proprietary wifi that required Windows drivers under Linux and printer/scanners that have more features under Windows than under Mac or Linux or special drivers to get all the features of your hardware. That's life.

My advice: save your receipt, be an informed consumer, read the fine print, buyer beware, caveat emptor, and do not taunt happy fun ball.

Lord no. Have you seen the sheer amount of Linux scoffery that goes on? It's here too.

And nothing is better than anything that Nokia has ever made whilst here. From logo to logic board, Nokia reigns supreme. And fanboys... I tend to think about Microsoft first, actually.

Yeah... odd, huh?

Oh well... *throws rock*

I'm cool with a revolution as long as rubber bullets are used and beer is aplenty.

Not the death penalty but the improper use of an ellipsis does still warrant an overnight stay in the stocks. Rock County Wisconsin is a rather harsh place . . .

This is the problem with 'addons' and such. In a table you'd mark it as 'orange'/'third party' because it isn't 'green'/'out of the box'/'officially supported' nor 'red/'unsupported'/'impossible'.

So in this case, you're on your own. Nokia does not support it. You can get it to work, or maybe you cannot (others did). The N8x0 have a great list of these 'orange' features, and whether a user can get them to work is up to them. It is both an advantage as well as a disadvantage.

OTOH, many of this type of person would pay you a few bucks to get this stuff working.
