Physically the only gaming "optimizations" on the pandora are the control pad. If you want to talk about software optimizations, I'm pretty sure both the OpenPandora guys and Nokia guys are trying to get their respective OSes running as fast as possible, taking advantage of all the OMAP3 has to offer while leaving plenty of RAM available to applications. If background processes are a problem on the N900, people will find ways to shut them off before the emulator runs. In terms of performance I doubt we'll see much difference between the N900 and the Pandora, playing any arbitrary game.

I see there is already a project cwiid which does this for desktop Linux.
There is also wiicontrol by kontorri, I have never used it but it looks quite usable.

He announced on IRC that he got it working on the N900, actually.

@fms: Can you probably tell us, how fast VGBA is working on the N900? Is it @ full speed, and do you support 32MB Roms, too?

Sorry, I cannot. If it helps any, a GBA emulator does not have to run faster than 60fps, because the real GBA runs at this framerate.

Thanks for this quick reply, but can you say if frameskip has to be used to make it playable at least at Pal25fps? I'm asking, because someone posted, that the DrNokSNES Emulator runs perfectly WITHOUT any frameskip option.

On most platforms, including Maemo, VGBA is set to skip ~65% frames, to make things run at playable speed. The default configuration of DrNokSNES is set to auto-frameskip, i.e. it will skip as many frames as necessary to maintain decent framerate.

But shouldn't n900's more powerful processor reduce the need of skipping frames?
