penguinbait, Rebski, racky, et al: please settle down.
This isn't a big deal. It isn't worth the stress, the emotion, and the anguish.
Go for a walk, have a cup of coffee, do something that will relax you and cheer you up.

Maybe what the forum needs is one more layer of categorization, or a sort of super-tag system, which consists of only two categories: N900/Maemo 5 would be one; earlier devices, earlier OSes, and Mer would be the other.
Anything about the programs pre-installed or available to download.

Thank you for suggesting a different look at the issue; however, as I see it, much of the discussion on this site actually revolves around pre-installed and third-party applications.* This isn't a surprise, as in the end, to most people, applications are the interesting bits of computers. It also means that Applications (and Games and Multimedia) is where most discussion really winds up.
So, once Mer is more end-user ready, most discussion about it will likely shift to Applications anyway. In addition, as Mer aims at tracking alongside Maemo in terms of underlying technologies and compatibility (rather than locking in at Diablo-era tech), those discussions in Applications should more often apply to users of both Mer and Maemo than not. At least, that's my hope.
I am eager to see a Mer forum. I want to see Mer succeed wildly. I'm more excited about the future of Mer than that of Maemo. That said, I'm happy to wait for the lead Mer developers and Reggie to decide the proper time. Right now, the "Mer x.yz released" threads appear to take care of most discussion.
As a side note along those lines, I now see we moved too early creating the Maemo 6 forum. At the time, I was in favor of it, as I thought we should be "ready" for discussion that will be launched at the Summit. We've a ghost town there right now though, and I can only hope the Summit does launch enough Harmattan discussion to make the forum worthwhile.
If anything, some variety of "Carrier Discussion"-type forum might be the next warranted addition. I feel such a choice is up to Reggie though.
* This is particularly true of the Maemo 5/Fremantle forum right now. There's a lot in there that should really be in Applications; however, as Maemo 5 is so new it's not even out yet, I feel it's far better for me to not move those threads for now. And as release draws nearer, I'm noticing a trend of application developers shifting to making new announcements in Applications anyway.

Penguinbait: yes, you seem upset. And twenty question marks reinforces that appearance.
