Set (in windows) the vmware networking as NAT

Copy the resolve.conf as already mentioned.

Eventually edit resolv.conf with a surely working dns.

How do you want me to rephrase it?
From a newbie point of view, it is doing what the N900 is doing but without any actual physical handset.

It is not. They're not the same apps, it's using older versions of system components, it's not the same architecture, it's not 3D accelerated, has lots of bugs, and is geared for _DEVELOPMENT_, not testing.

So please refrain from suggesting the SDK as "experience" of the N900, and _SPECIALLY_ refrain from suggesting the SDK to test apps & report bugs.

For example, DrNokSnes on the x86 SDK is such an entirely different beast that most bug reports against the x86 version are _useless_ for me.

There is VMware Player which is free and good enough for this. In Workstation product you pay for advanced features you don't need here.

Ok, I happened to find the resolv.conf in scratchbox to be different to the machine. You will need to make sure it's the same.

I followed his steps and was able to get the Internet working.

2. Fixing your /etc/resolv.conf

This one is an easy fix for most. We are changing your resolv.conf so that it matches the ones on your computer.

Make sure you are Logged Out of Scratchbox or haven't started it yet.

Type into your terminal ~

Code:

sudo cp /etc/resolv.conf /scratchbox/etc/resolv.conf

This will prompt you for your password. Enter it!

Now try updating again. If that didn't work lets delve deeper into your resolv.conf dilemma.

This part we are Checking to make sure your resolv.conf Actually Matches!

Outside of scratchbox, do the follow

Code:

nano /etc/resolv.conf

Take note of the following details whether you save them to a notepad or write them down. Then exit (Ctrl + X).

Now, do the follow;

Code:

/scratchbox/login
sb-conf se FREMANTLE_ARMEL
nano /etc/resolv.conf

Check that they match your other settings.

Do the same for X86.

Code:

/scratchbox/login
sb-conf se FREMANTLE_X86
nano /etc/resolv.conf

In short, your resolv.conf should look something like this for all resolv.conf files:

domain localdomain
search localdomain
nameserver [YOUR_DNS_ADDRESS]

I'm having a problem with Maemo_PreFinal_2_Ubuntu_Intrepid_Desktop_SDK_Virtu al_Image_Splitted.zip.001.

When I'm trying to extract it, it keeps saying that file is damaged or can't be extracted. With Winrar I can see that there's two text files inside, but nothing else. I've already tried to download the file again but it doesn't help.

The other package works, but with errors also. WMware wont run the .vmx file though, saying 'The file specified is not a virtual disk.'. But maybe that is because I don't have the other needed file?
