I'm happy to test it if it lands in Extras-devel and is optified. 25Mb in the root filesystem is indeed a big number.

Not to be picky, but the FICS feature isn't an addition to the 4.0 (sept 2009) release.

Anyway, here's an useful link for improvements in SCID 4.0: http://blog.chess.com/danthebugman/review---scid-40 (the comments are useful as well)

N900 doesn't have maemo-select-menu-location, but you can probably fix that by running these commands as root:
Code:
touch /usr/bin/maemo-select-menu-location
chmod +x /usr/bin/maemo-select-menu-location
and then try installing it again.

I realize that this was posted a while back, but I just saw this comment. This person seems to imply that I was somehow wrong and he is being picky.

I said that a version of SCID from 2009 included the ability to play online at FICS. Is someone denying that statement in some way? I got several versions of SCID in 2009 and they included the ability to play online at FICS. I used them! To say this didn't happen is not picky, it is simply wrong and false.

See Sourceforge for versions that do this.

Please ignore this post if you took any offence, this was only mentioned as a side-note.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think someone asked about this feature, and a small piece of information doesn't hurt to be repeated twice if already discussed once.
