So in the (possible) case of Nintendo vs Nokia, the plaintiff would be Apple?

Wait, was there a Cease and Decist letter received by maemo.org? This sounds to me like saber rattling - why are we being so quick to take down emulators?

Probably to prevent any possible damage (gesture of good-will?)
And yes, it is saber-rattling

repository.maemo.org uses Akamai to cache its content, so you might see slightly different things in different parts of the world, which is what zerojay is referring to as 'local' cache.

These are very reasonable questions. It may well be that there is a good solid reason for this (temporary?) action, but as so often seems the case there's precious little communication.

These are reasonable questions. There's a solid reason they were taken down.

That's about all I feel comfortable with saying right now. I don't know if there's any confidentiality attached to what I know.. and in general, it's a good idea not to talk about things when there's possible legal action, right?

I'll let Peter or Quim talk about and respond, if they want to... or if they even could.

No one's happy about the situation. No one involved wants to put Maemo in any sort of risk, so this is the safest option for the moment.

Guess I should remove my avatar, eh?

Thanks. I think it would be appreciated (certainly by me, at least) if you could find out for sure whether or not you can tell us more. If not, even a definite statement that you can't talk about it would go a long way.

It would also be a useful basis for any discussion on where to go next - is this just a specific Nintendo problem, or a more general one? For example, Fedora bans all console etc. emulators from the distribution to avoid this issue entirely - is Maemo likely to do the same, and who decides?

Considering the fact that everyone's already had a hellish Friday thanks to this situation and most everyone involved is already in bed and want to relax this weekend, forgive me if I wait until Monday to find out.
