If you can post your results maybe it would help.

My result:
Satellites in view: 15, in use: 4
Accuracy: 28m
How do you do a location test?

Pretty sure this is a T-mobile issue. Mine was working fine on AT&T then I switched to T-mobile and it stopped working. Been discussing in another thread and one person confirmed they had the same issue while another confirmed they were OK. Anyone else using t-mobile have this problem?

Ok, spoken to Nokia regarding A-GPS not working on T-mobile, they don't seem to know the problem but will investigate it further.

I swapped my sim card to my N95 and it works, so looks like it's a N900 issue. It did work on my N900 when I was using AT&T, so not sure what happened when I swapped to T-mobile. I can't find my old AT&T simcard so am unable to test further. My theory now is that the network is not passing the tower location to the phone. Gonna try and find the settings for that. Anyone know where they might be?

Does anyone know how to turn on the GPS outside the map application? I won't agree to the terms in the included software.

I guess that I am stuck until maemo mapper is available for the n900, but I would like to make sure the GPS is working.

I am fine with echoing 1 into some /proc or /sys place if that is what it takes.

Also has anyone got gpsd or similar working on the n900? Does maemo 5 already have something like gpsd included?

There are several apps you can use the gps with.

1) If you have a IM/Skype account in the phone, you can set your availability on the desktop (by pressing the time/cell/battery meter widget). As part of availability you can choose to show your location. This will trigger the gps.

2) ecoach app, run it and start a workout, it will use the gps.

3) one of the following apps - GPXView, GPSJinni or Location Test. They are available somewhere in the maemo catalogs. You might have to hunt around a bit for them, but I came across them quite easily.

Yes, fast lock, but when I was driving the GPS accuracy was disgustingly poor; it would go a long time without updating much and then suddenly jump even though it did not appear that the app was frozen. If it can't be fixed I am ditching the n900 for droid.

Compare with N810 gps poll: are you happy with your gps, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=24913

Not happy 61.3 % (yes problem)
Happy 38.7 % (No problem)

The N900 gps poll, today, also broke down to 1/3 and 2/3, just like the N810 poll, though the Yes problem vs No problem is inverted. Interesting. Would be interest to see how a N810 owner now has N900 vote today. sachin007... mind to comment on the gps N900 vs N810? lock time and stability?
