I think he was talking about a GUI instead of a CLI. I'm a noobie as well and the command line for us still is very unfamiliar. For now, I'll give it a try, but could I screw up my N900 doing so? And does anybody know if there's a GUI app for it?

Though I can work through the Terminal (coming from Windows)... a GUI would be more useful honestly... with a few buttons (extract, add to archive, etc.) and a nice icon...

What happen to unrar in the application manager. i had it downloaded on my previous n900 but had to send it back to nokia for a replacement because the usb port broke. Well anyways I got it back now and pretty much installed most of my apps, but i cant seem to find the unrar app. I have all the repo's activated and didnt find it. I even tried using X terminal but i get an error message stating that E: could get lock/var/lib/dpkg/lock. And another error message stating E: unable to lock the administrator directory is another process using it. Even tried using the command jishin posted but still recieve the unable to lock administration message.

Someone pls help.

I was wondering, if there is a way, using these programs /7zip/unrar etc to extract a rar combination with different parts. The goal is to extract a movie, avi. It is compressed in 10 parts of rar files.. is it possible to extract example: ddf.part1.rar ddf.part2.rar they all contain small parts of the big movie.. if you know what i mean..

I've not used 7zip so I can't speak for that, but unrar certainly handles multi-volume RAR files without any problem. Just give it the first RAR file and it'll find the others automatically.

Could you give me the correct unrar program to install? Or the command lines to extract a specific rar? So I'm not doing it wrong.

Thanks
