I've been using only 3G lately and data always on. I have to test this with WiFi also if there is impact to battery.

This is very interesting. I had to close my data connection (3G) to save my battery about week ago. But last friday I forgot my data connection on and after many hours I saw that battery seems to be almost full. I was surprised because I didnt have to recharge my phone about 8pm that day. Next time I did charge was next day 3pm.

My normal usage is like this: I browse web about 20-30 minutes, use gps about 30 minutes, internet radio 30-60 minutes (bluetooth headset), play crimson fields 30 minutes (today), mfe gets mail every 15. min and gmail every 30. min. And ofcourse calls about 30-40 min today.

edit: + foreca and facebook widget always on.

OK, well, I think my battery improvement post might have been riddled with a little too much excitement for the reason that the device finally lasted for over 24 hours without having to be recharged.

THe increase was considerable, but not as much as 100%.

I believe the increase in battery was due to maybe better reception, and to the battery going through its first charge cycles to reach maturity.

Nevertheless I am very happy with the increase in battery life, with moderate usage I used to have to recharge in the middle of the day. I can now go from morning to morning without holding back on my usage at all.

@BrentDC
I've turned on my Touch Search again, I'll let you know if I notice any drain, I doubt I will. I apologize, I did not mean to put down your app, without any real proof.
I never thought it definitely was a direct cause, it just happened to be that my battery improved shortly after I turned it off.

Im also happy with battery now. For me the limit was one full day with moderate usage and now I can reach it quite easily.

Yeah, I'm a happy camper too (see my posting above). I'm actually using the device just the way I want to: Wi-fi on all day long except weekends, then the occasional 2.5G connection (can't get 3G here now) during evenings and weekends, a and a little extra wi-fi on Saturdays.
I've got a browser (for gmail) open at all times, contacts for the gtalk group, calendar (or todo) widget, messages widget, ip widget, and on SIM.

I just keep a careful eye on the CPU before I leave the device, after that single occasion where pulseaudio emptied my battery (for no reason) over the night. Without such incidents my battery is behaving fine indeed.

My replacement unit is due today. Assuming that it comes with some factory charge, can anyone advise me what to do regarding first charge/use etc please.. I really don't want to mess it up.

Should I charge for so many hours without using, then allow to drain with use before charging again?

Sorry I know this has been done but there are differing opinions it seems.

I finally found out why my battery only lasted 12 hours and some times less..

My cell provider dosen't have full 3g coverage, wich meant my phone switched alot between 2.5 and 3g/3.5.

So i took the step of switching from double network to only gsm. This keeps my phone on the 2.5 network all the time. And keeps my phone from searching for 3g everytime it switched over to 2.5.

Now i can have half a battery left once i go to bed at night, where it used to atleast be completly drained.

Another weird thing this fixed for me is that its more reliable at finding webpages when surfing the web.

guys, how/where do you get the battery %??

I just have the green bar, not a percentage. A percentage would be a better indicator.
