Thanks for the help.

The troubling thing is that it doesn't work in either wifi or cellular mode. It's also worrying that this isn't an issue about refreshing the Extras repository, but just the standard ones (so far). When I try to sync with them I get messages on the log like the following...

E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/downloads.maemo.nokia.com_fremantle002_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened

i don't know what to do with the phone so. Really don't like things not working as they are meant to. If I thought a firmware update would reset/fix it then i would'nt mind waiting.

Exactly what am i missing from not been able to access the Nokia app repository?

I am concerned that this would actually prevent me from getting firmware updates.

If its not the DNS issue, then I'm out of ideas. That's the only problem I've had.

Sounds like the same result, but maybe different problems. Thanks to everybody again for helping.

Strange question: where are you? Cos I have a different entry for the updates repository. Mine says:

https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/203

The nokia apps is the same as everyone else's. I'm in the UK, BTW.

But it does make me wonder if the nokia repository address is localisation-specific. That would certainly make sense for the updates - we will all need to install the update for our localised firmware. So I'd check where you are, and which localisation you're running, then make sure that your catalogue address is the right one for your firmware, I'm not sure whether that would affect the nokia apps, but somehow it might.

Edit: my firmware confirms itself as 203 localisation - so that makes sense for the catalogue address.

Check your repository entries again. For the US, in App Manager the url for Nokia Applications should be:

https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/apps/

For Nokia System Software Updates:

https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/002

In both cases the Distribution entry is simply "/" (no quotes).

And again, if those entries are correct and it still fails try updating not using friggin' wifi.

Except Chicoelnino doesn't tell us whether he/she is in the US. If not, then having the US repository for updates could well be why it won't connect for a different firmware.

Well, that's why i specified "For the US". Hopefully he's paying attention. And maybe he'll try NOT using wifi, if he can.
