I love the N900 and really appreciate the openness of Maemo. It makes all end-users feel that we're part of a bigger project.
I think the official development team will need to be more open about what's happening in the background, especially by updating everyone about the features and timelines of the next firmware releases.
The main aim of this is to streamline their efforts and the efforts of individual developers and avoid duplicating work.
I also feel that there are many issues that will need an official announcement to avoid speculations and rumors, like the firmware release date, portrait mode, MMS, MfE support and other annoyances.

sometimes i wish i had just sent mine back the day i got it and didnt come on here to find out the solotion.
that is what i would have done with any other product.
