The howto steps are up-to-date, some of the surrounding texts are/were not. hotspot_frontend.py has dialogs to choose which gprs connection to use and what is the name of the network and a big start/stop button.

But really; there is a reason this is not even in extras-devel yet...

OTOH the custom kernel has a patch that should solve the reboot issue (whether the Joiku kernel module will work without recompilation [or even with recompile, they might have been sloppy and suppose noone changes network config in kernel...])

it works with safari, and yes it rebooted the first time and then it work. I guess it will only get better in a few days. Just report all the bugs to JoikuSpot. However can I browse from the N900 when sharing my connection I am getting "page load error"?

I installed it and yes it rebooted once but after that I had no problem hooking it up to a laptop. I did notice one thing. When you initially connect your laptop to joiku connection it looks connected but it really isn't. I had to disconnect and reconnect and boom it worked. Looks promising through a 3G connection. I could have used this when I went to a resort last month and they didnt have internet this would have done the trick on my laptop. I guess there are always future trips I now can look forward to. lol.

Installed fine, and works with my Eee pc 901 (windows XP).
No reboots so far.
It uses 100% CPU when connected, so battery won't last long.

update: it works once using Safari, N900 shows connectiong and DHCP address but cannot surf the web on computer. I reinstall the application and the same thing...anyone else having the same issue with Safari? I also try connecting IPOD, same thing shows IP address on N900, but no surfing the web.
