Just in case anyone is having this problem and is considering sending it in for repair. I finally called nokia and told them the problem i was having. They paid for shipping for me to send in my phone and are sending me a brand new replacement. Was a pretty hassle free process, anyway hope this helps alleviate any concerns anyone was having about sending in your phone for repairs.

I also had the same problem 2 weeks ago. Vibrator only produced some high pitched sound. Activating it for a long period of time had no effect so i gave up.

But today, my vibrator is working again (I've got no explanation)

So if it's happens to yours, maybe wait a little before sending it for repairs.

My Vibra spent almost a week without functioning.

I tried the codes, factory reset, shaking, hitting it, everything.

Yesterday I put my alarm on and put the phone on the charger as I always do.

This morning I woke up to just the sound of the alarm, then I picked the phone and reset the alarm and went back to bad with my phone, as I always do as a lazy that I am. Suddenlly I woke up to the alarm, this time it was vibrating!!! What the heck!

I guess my N900 was in need for attention

mi vibrator also died yesterday... it only spinned/whistled but there was no physical force.

so thanks for giving that tip!

i used it to get uninterupted vibration. while knocking around on the phone. when i knocked around the power button area, the vibrator started working again.

thanks again (both of you) for the tip! :-)

Hi guys, today I finally opened up my N900 to do the fix-it-before-it's-too-late soldering to the usb port and I was able to fix the vibration issue, too.
I had already tried both scripts described in this thread but they didn't work for me.
Today I switched on the phone while the case was still open (holding the battery in place with my hand!) and the pcb exposed. I ran the script described here while manually rotating motor's eccentric and after some manual turns it started spinning!
Hope this may help someone else!
