I have a question. i'm about to try this app again (i have an account but haven't installed the webui because i ASSumed i could just use it on my phone and all would be well). I too got the errors listed in here. my question is, if i were to leave the sanctity of the home and switch to 3g, what would the host be then? would the ip address change? does the app recognise this switch from wireless to 3g?

I keep getting the error, "there was an error connecting to the server: Data corrupted."

The program then hangs and i can't even get into settings to change anything. and everytime i fire it up, i get the same message and i'm forced to uninstall and reinstall to try again.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

The app will work from outside your network, but the IP address does change and it's not going to work unless you configure port forwarding in your router. This is fairly easy, however you will need a static IP (or use a [free] DDNS service, like dyndns).
However,I would strongly recommend that you use a VPN instead of just opening the port as it is much more secure (and will also let you use many other network programs as well). This can be difficult, however there are many tutorials on setting up VPNs on Linux systems (Windows is slightly different, may be harder). Google for OpenVPN if you're intereseted.

For some of you guys that are having problems with the connecting and you defiantly sure you have all the right ip > ports > username > password.
(Also try swapping the first letter of your password from (Lowercase) to (Uppercase). Remember to do it on your phone as well.)

Im not guaranteeing a fix here but check your [Update Interval] time and try changing it to 3 seconds. Just in case the phones trying to load a data quicker than it can receive it then gives up.

Peace...

It does not remove the configuration when you uninstall it. You need to get in to X-terminal and delete the config folder which is under /home/users/.config/R...(don't remember. it is name of the person who developed it I guess). Suggestion: it would make sense to have app name as the folder name. It took me a while to find the config folder for this app.

However I tried that as well. For me the first time when I invoke the app I get server error but when I do force update it works. In fact it was working for me until I updated the utorrent app on my PC(I guess).

I seem to have a bug...

I just downloaded and installed it.
Put my setting in, then I get can't connect to the server: data corrupted.
Then the cpu monitor inthe task bar at the top hits red and it crashes uremote.
:-(

I shall try installing again now and unchecking the updates box, and try the correct port (I left the port as default 80, but just checked utorrent and it's some random one)

humm.. it happened straight away again before I even got to put any settings in the new install.
I can't use it at all :-(

Any ideas?

Nicola

ETA: Just saw the above posts. Sorry, I'm tired haha!
I'll try deleting the config and start all over again!

It works!

Thanks, excellent app :-)

Just whatever you do, do NOT put the wrong port in there, it kills it entirely!
