BFS wouldn't have an advantage in single core CPU.

yes, a lower minimum frequency does not mean it that it consumes less power.
Actually, 125 as minimum was worse for me then 250 or 500 (low voltage).
If the device is idle, it goes to a 0V sleep state and not to the lowest frequency.

I would highly appreciate if someone can give simple answers and please correct me if something is wrong here:

Power consumption is about linear to frequency and quadric to voltage? If you want same power consumption on double frequency then voltage should come down 30%.

When the second lowest state is normally/mostly used (lowest is sleep = 0v)?
- When you are listening music with media player (single task)
- When you are using fm-radio (single task)
- Data connection with IM/transfer?

And when you are on phone it jumps to 500 MHz on stock kernel? What happens to frequency with wall charger? What happens with data transfer cable?

What are the stock frequencies and voltages (table format)? What are the titans ulv kernels corresponding values (table format)? Or what are the lowest voltages per frequency what people have find stable.

Please ignore this message if it seems dumb. Have you read the overclocking pages in the wiki? Aren't some of the questions you are asking easily answered by testing it yourself?

Last time I checked there was only "Normal voltage" "overvoltage", "ULV", which do not exactly answer at least to my questions.

At least it says that phone app locks to 600 MHz and when connected to USB (charger or data or both?) it locks to 500Mhz.

Are the Ideal voltages still in the limits of the cpu?
If my CPU run with low voltage, is there the risk that some operations (e.g. write operations) will not work correct?

Did you guys experiment with changing the CPU sampling rate? (the interval between changing frequencies) The default is 300ms. To me it seems that lower values are better for responsiveness and also allow the CPU to go back to lower frequency quicker. On the other hand, higher values tend to spread background CPU load more evenly, so the CPU is less likely to go to higher frequencies unnecessarily due to short load peeks.

Do you have any recommendations regarding the CPU sampling rate?

Yes, because the 500MHz starts loosing to 125MHz if it has voltage twice more 125MHz. But the whole CPU voltage range doesn't exceed 0.975V - 1.500V.

No, because it takes resources for very short work.

So - it depends from your usage. If you load N900 with applications/widgets/etc - yes. If it is empty - no. Most people reports that their N900 jumps up from 125MHz pretty fast.

But if you go from 250MHz with ondemand governor, then it is a clear advantage because 250MHz voltage differs from 500MHz less then 1.4 times with any kernel variant.

1.41 == sqrt(2)

EDIT2: But my experience with artificially keeping some background applications on low frequency doesn't support that value, it looks like low frequency wins in battery saving.

EDIT: 600MHz during call-to-answer period, looks like N900 recognizes error tones from stupid providers.

Looks like lowest frequency on stock kernel if idle.

What happens with data transfer cable?
As usual s*t with USB - polling USB takes resources and it increases CPU usage ---> increases frequency. On stock kernel it is 500MHz, on overclocked... I don't know, but suspect the same 500MHz.
