Engadget has just posted a correction. The device sold 100,000 units in its first 5 WEEKS on the market, not months.

i blame the high street vendors...

in the end of the day they have their numbers/targets to meet and above all they not technical either, everyone knows the value of the n900's, those high street reps (exception of a few reps) have tons of other phones with better visible functionality to demo and much more afordable for the generic joe blogs, the n900 is very much a portable computer with phone functionality... the market audiance is going to be mainly technical people, other things which might put technical people off is basic functionality like microsoft vpn support and citrix support missing, teamviewer support, etc.... these functionality is available in the iphone, and if we like it or not most business are adopting iphones because of such open features.
for example, technically i would not be able to influence my company to look at the n900 in any way possible but the iphone sadly i would they could quite easily adopt into the day to day operations of the business.... n900 could grow if these points would be addressed, otherwise is just another phone running linux.

A correction has been posted. It was 100,000 in 5 weeks, not 5 months.

Ah - I always forget Palm; those devices aren't sold here. Tried to find sales figures for 2010 but wasn't very successful. Last 2009-numbers indicated 100000/month - which would make 300000 in Q1/2010. Still not the almost 2000000 we're missing

Thread title should be changed to "N900 five week sales more than 100,000, really?"

Yes it does, indeed. Also, I would like to know where the correction comes from.

For once, Engadget actually gets it right.

"Look, the N900 might be sitting at the top of Nokia's handset pyramid in terms of capabilities, but as we've said all along, the N900 is not a mass-market device. Nokia's been very clear that the N900 was launched as a means to strengthen its Maemo development community (on the path to MeeGo we now know). And by all accounts, it's done just that while winning a rabid fanbase of nerds in the process....So yeah, Nokia has problems, but the N900 isn't wasn't one of them."
