its involved in installation and uninstallation of programs like apt-get.
it runs when ur application manager is open

Have you noticed that disk operations - reading/writing - seem to be really heavy? This could explain the stuttering as well. I was able to choke my N900 by downloading 100Mb game from a repo. Also when gPodder is downloading files the phone is veeery sluggish. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have even had stuttering on the "Nokia Hands" video when the phone is booting.
