Mine is 250/1100 lv everything runs super smooth with no issues when multitasking. I want to try 250/1100 starving to see how that does. You gotta love the Maemo community for all their hard work!

Overclocking can be very simple. Or it can get pretty complicated. For you and other n00bs who may be reading this, I'll lay out the basics again in this thread, and in the simplest terms I can. Just follow these steps:

1. Using the App Manager, install these packages:

Enhanced Linux kernel for power users
Enhanced Linux kernel for power users (settings)

The Enhanced kernel will allow you to set various clock speeds, voltage profiles (like 'ideal' 'ulv' or 'lv') and many other parameters.

2. The phone will need to reboot to install the new kernel. It should restart perfectly normally.

3. Open the terminal app and type:

sudo gainroot

Hit enter. The prompt will change from '$' to '#' meaning you now have root (administrator) privileges, so be careful!

4. Type this command:

kernel-config limits 250 750

You should get a confirmation that the specified setup has been loaded. Close the terminal.

5. Congratulations! You have just overclocked from 600Mhz to 750Mhz!

If you have no problems running at 750Mhz, you can re-run the kernel-config command and increase speed as to much as 1.15Ghz, but some units will not tolerate max speeds. To stay on the safe side, I'd recommend a max of around 850Mhz.

6. To set lower voltages type (for example):

kernel-config load ideal

The 'ideal' profile is fairly severe. If you have problems with videos or anything, try loading a more conservative profile like 'lv'.

7. To save your entire configuration so it can be reloaded with a single command, type:

kernel-config save <name>

You can then reload your saved configuration with:

kernel-config load <name>

If you reboot the phone, as a safety feature it will by default return to the standard 600Mhz and voltages, etc. You need to re-run the kernel-config command to overclock again.

8. I do not recommend using the command:

kernel-config default <name>

This makes you custom configuration the default settings, even after a reboot. Sounds good...but if your phone becomes unstable and keeps rebooting, it will keep loading an unstable configuration. Better to run a command or two after a reboot or setup Queen Bee or something to make loading configurations even easier.

I actually run my phone with a totally stock configuration except for a 850Mhz overclock. But as I said, many other options besides clock speed and voltage can be specified using Titan's enhanced kernel. For more details check these out:

so now im oc'd by min 500 max 850 and everythings prerty dam stable.

what i would want to know now is, if i would want to use Desktop Execution widget for switching to oc and default at the comfort of my desktop.
should i just type ''sudo kernel-config load ideal'' in the command input box directly in settings?

cause id just want 2 buttons on my desktop for oc and default kernel

I'm using 250-900 with ideal. At 950 strange stuff starts to happen.

Haven't tried other voltage profiles.

I have been using Queen Beecon to overclock and have it set to load automatically upon startup. This is a nice feature because it will boot in the default frequency but then OC it to 850 (im using ideal) as soon as hildon loads.

My n900 has never reboot once (knock on wood). I use 1.1 ghz pretty frequently for gaming, although it does kill the battery and cause the device to get rather warm.

That command would only load the 'ideal' voltage profile, no change to clock speed.

Read through my post above (#35). Setup a stable speed and voltage profile you like and run the 'kernel-config save <name>' command. Then put 'sudo kernel-config load <name>' in the widget command to load all your settings at once.

Just to be clear...you do not now have 2 kernels installed. You have only Titan's enhanced power user's kernel, which can run custom or default (stock) settings.

ok so here's what i did.

installed the linux custom kernel for power users and then the linux custom kernel settings..rebooted, proceeded to xterm, typed in ''sudo kernel-config load ideal''
so there im oc'd to min 500 max 850.
and then changed it to min 250 max 950 by putting in
''sudo kernel-config limits 250 950'' and saved it with the name ideal950. (ill only use oc when watching videos online)

now i made 2 desktop execution widgets with the command for loading ideal950 and the default kernel.

im proud of myself, god damnit thank you people!!
