Just found these on amazon, very similar to the 205, but with more buttons, are these any good?

This is the Nokia Stereo Headset WH-701

From what I've read in this forum....
Select BT headsets have more functions that actually work on the n900 Vs their corded brethren.

Obviously, the original WH-205 had an issue and Nokia doesn’t sell it anymore. The sad thing is that they refuse to replace it with anything else!

They said my WH-205 is irreparable and BH-214 is an upgrade which they don’t want to do so they want to issue a $19 refund which won't buy any working headset.

I tried to escalate the issue to no avail. What service. And they call it Service recovery department (what!?)

With all these defect reports, they know about it without a doubt. Has anyone tried to push this issue?

I am willing to join all of you and go to any length if you think it works.

I'm looking for a wired hands-free headset, and most of the ones I've seen here are just headphones (no mic). Anyone have any luck with headphones+mic from third parties?

I've tried buying different ones (from motorola to sony, etc) but they all make a high pitched screeching sound when plugged into the N900... Only the original ones work, and they are falling apart on me...

Is my only option to buy from Nokia?

Why wired, there's some great BT options...
I mean phone headsets are rarely audiophile standard, BT or not.

Any suggestions for the best monoaural headset around? (convert to stereo option might be handy, but not imperative).
The best I've found so far seems to be discovery 975 or voyager pro*, still comparing though, any favourites?

I'll get a BT stereo headset later that'll need to be rugged enough for jogging etc, but it's not a priority now.
BH-214 is a candidate, but I don't like the fact that it re-injects wires into the equation.
I don't need optimal listening quality when I'm jogging etc.

*Which by many accts is better than 975!
Aside from being bulkier, less stylish, & not having the gimmicky battery extender case.

That may very well be true, but it's more about not carrying a lot of stuff around, and not having to charge a BT all the time...

Would a WH-205 work on an N810 (incl. the mic)?
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with that?

My old Nokia HS-12W had some trouble with N900. But after the left speaker went mute, I had a excuse for bying Nokia BH-903. It's working wonderfully with N900. Audio quality is excellent and the media buttons work.
