Okay, I've resolved the problem for now. (Set it up to boot off an SD card and manually removed omweather from ~/.osso/hildon-home/applet_manager.conf.)

I can test a bit more some other time, but for right now, I'm just glad I got everything back in one piece.

Wouldn't it just be easier to access a web link? I tried omweather a while back and found it offered no more then what I could get here http://mobile.wunderground.com/

It's a convenience thing. It's nice to have it automatically update and just be there when you look, instead of having to open the web browser and wait for it to access the data. (For now, I've got a bookmark to nws.noaa.gov's local forecast.)

I would also say convenience.

I have 4 locations in there right now. my home, my parents, and 2 work locations that I travel too. Each is just a tap away

Also, it's very convenient when moving about without having a connection all the time. The weather data gets updated when I'm at home or in my office, but it is kept so I can check it whenever I need to.

I updated to the latest version and it put me in a loop of perpetual reboots, I had to reinstall the operating system again. I had used (must have been version 1.16) for weeks with no problems until I updated. I really enjoyed having the forecast right there all the time, I think I will wait for it to become more stable and then perhaps try again.

Yeah I got the looping reboots and had to install the OS again. But before the looping it just disapeared completely on it's own, so I uninstalled v.16 and reinstalled v.17. I simply cannot do without this program. I am glad it happened though because I had been reading a lot of stuff on here about working in X-Term (I saved any commands posted by members over the past month) and I got to practice installing and running programs from within it... right now I am so close to cracking wifi... I got everything installed and just a command away from mission accomplished.

PS: I will install this version and report back any problems.

Thanks! It's working for me again on my N800. Is there any configuration that you would like rung out?

Can the other icon set be used with this as well?
