I've just started using Dropbox and DropN900 - means you can easily and securely copy files from any computer with internet access to your N900.

Cant help giving a hint again to another solution that have been mentioned befolre.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=804962

Its a bit more complicated but I have used it for sometime now and it works flawless. The best benifit is that you can choose diredction of syncronisation and with n900 as the pivot point every computer in reach could have an updated folder.
cheers

@nano:
I have a few problems with tinysmb:
1. file names with umlauts and so on don't work properly, they show up crippled
2. I wanted to edit ID3 tags with ID3 tag edit but it didn'd find any files, when I tried it in mass storage mode everything worked. It also worked also with another network drive. There seems to be something missing in the protocol. No idea what though.

Otherwise it's a nice tool.
Thanks for porting it.

Regards
Aydan

I know there are some problems with non-ASCII characters and many other problems

I hope I can use Samba or Samba-Tng in the future as backend.

This will hopefully solve the problems.

Fixed...

I think it seems to be some sort of DNS Name resolution issue. Not sure whether the issue lies within Windows, my router or TinySMB. On the PC I can see my phone listed by name with all other networked devices but it cant seem to get back to the shares. By Typing in the IP (when you remember to add \\ at the begining to specify server) it works fine.

The problem I am now having is that something seems to fail when I copy large amounts of data over. I tried copying about 2GB of MP3s and get the attached error. I have to restart the server to get it to work again.

Its not a DNS issue. It is a NetBIOS issue.

I have also compiled Samba 3.5.5 and there NetBIOS works fine.
But Samba needs a lot of diskspace and memory.

I cant say something about your copy-error because i never had this problem. Maybe your WLAN-Connection is not stable.
