hmmm ... unfortunately there is no /etc/hildon/system-menu.plugins file anymore ... only a link to the theme I use.

is there a way to extract system-menu.plugins from the rootfs firmware-image?
Sorry, my mistype. There should be /etc/hildon-desktop, but -desktop got somewhere while typing.
Can you try backing up /etc/hildon/system-menu.plugins and installing again and attach modified by AIS /etc/hildon/system-menu.plugins?

i don't want to annoy you but there is no /etc/hildon-desktop/system-menu.plugins.

Code:
Nokia-N900:/etc/hildon-desktop# ls
home.conf notification-groups.conf status-menu.conf
home.plugins notification.conf status-menu.plugins
home.safe-set notification.safe-set
Nokia-N900:/etc/hildon-desktop#

AIS doesn't switch off GSM (and everything else) without a click, it reacts to system signals.

And, of course, you didn't save /etc/hildon-desktop/status-menu.plugins editted by AIS.
Then could you attach your current /etc/hildon-desktop/status-menu.plugins?

not sure but in my case it was switching off GSM without even touching it. would try to install powatool and see if it fixes the issue.
