Easy...Just take both devices and drop them from one meter. If they still work, drop them again until one of them don't work anymore. I'm sure it's not your n900 mate. what more do you need?

'Hey, look at all this neat stuff I can do' yeah, but, it didn't come like that, you had to manipulate the software to do all these wonderful things. Nokia n900 is a great phone, and the iphone browser displays most of the time a mobile version of the site, whereas micro b displays it in it's desktop goodness.
it doesn't matter what we do to any device or system, as long as it has the potential and achieves more features and better usage, that's all that matters. Hell, N900 is open source and we still have nothing on the market. OVI Store is pathetic and look at this community, it's mostly about adding new features and tweaks to the phone to make it better, isn't that the same thing?? Installing custom power kernels so we can overclock?? Installing fmms so we can send MMS??

Not to mention we still have shitty firmware updates that haven't addressed most of the issues yet, but at least the iPhones r stable. Also, jailbreaking is now legal, so whocares if we have to jailbreak, it takes literally 1 minute. Hell, u don't even need a PC to jailbreak it, people have been going to the Apple Store and jailbreak the iPhones on display through internet connection, search on Youtube if u dun believe me. It's on the news as well. Jailbreaking is as simple as pressing a button, it's so easy it probably finishes faster than booting up a computer.

And regardless of whether it comes like that, the apps for it are still way more than enough. It's pretty ironic how Apple puts so much limitation to their products, and treat every one of its users like idiots and gives them so much blocked access, and yet we get more usage on them, whereas compared to N900's open source, where the hell is the open source?? Many ppl have been saying the same thing i have and have left the N900.

TBH, i use my iPod Touch more than my N900 for apps/games. It's good enough doing what it does, and that's all that matters. Just being unbiased here.

A thread like this makes me realise what a dreadful invention clothes are. Without them, these guys could just settle the argument the old-fashioned way with a tape measure.

Tell your cousin his desperate need to prove he has the superior phone is clearly due to compensation for his deeply felt inadequacies, and you don't suffer such lack. Walk away. Next time he starts stare pointedly at his crotch. Argument over.

Then go and enjoy whichever device you chose as the correct one for you.

This one is so easy. I get attacked like this all the time from your typical rabid Apple fanboys.

"If you don't know why the n900 is better than the iPhone, then for you, it isn't."

It's honest, straightforward, and a little condescending. Which they hate.

Your warranty isn't invalidated once Apple implements their call home checks for jailbreaking.

Technically your warranty for Android and iPhone are invalidated once you root or jailbreak. The way to get around that is restore to normal before sending it in or getting someone to look at it. The above would be a way to combat that.

do people really care about warranty these days?? I don't even need warranty or buy extended warranty, average users or even a kid that takes care of their devices won't need it, hell, i have an old W950i phone from 6 years ago, it's got so many dents and scratches on it and it still works fine. I use it every now and then when my N900 runs out of battery and that i forget to bring a backup one.

Nah I lined up in Chartwell Hamilton. Auckland ran out of it lol they only got like 56Units each qualified store and Hamilton got about 36Units each store..Oh well, I don't want to be like him. I was planing on getting the White one next year if N9 = failure! But now I'll wait for something else. May be Droid or N9 but I'm trying my best to avoid Nokia for the time being.

WIthout this community Nokia N900 would have been long dead, I've been here since launched lol. Got it since the first batch as well. Used it for over 9months.

Ahh ic ic.....how come u said u bought it in Auckland for him??

Anyway, u should go for the HTC Touch EVO 4G, it's super awesome compared to the iPhone. On top of that, you can dual boot Windows Mobile and Android, so that's a plus. The Android market or app store is pretty popular now as well, it's doing just as good as the App Store for iPhone, and if u know where to look, u can always get free apps

The Droids for me is the last resort.
I love Maemo so much that I would want to mate with it. lol.
Droid I can't even simply hack the system fonts or do anything. Iphone is out of the question since there is no homescreens for my customisations.
The Iphone4 multitasking is just rubish compairing to N900 just the N900 got an old slow processor and Low in RAM otherwise this would be the best hacker device ever.

I am so going to wish that Apple would find a way to contain the iPhone from reflashing or even put a log file into the system somewhere that it can be detected by the iTunes and instantly disqualified the device from updating to the latest update and warranty.

But sound like impossible lol.

Yes people really care about warranty these days. You may not think you need it, but once your device breaks you'll wish you did.

With Apple, warranties are pretty much your only chance in getting the device fixed if something happens to it.

IE: glass screen crack cause you drop it
IE: battery problems (can't replace the battery yourself)

And considering the N900 has a faulty USB port that can come out, I say a warranty is pretty useful.

Err it's not impossible, and I think Apple has been working on it. Hence my earlier post.

Since the DMCA ruling in America, Apple can't argue that jailbreaking is breaking DRM (and hence illegal). Though it's still illegal from breaking a contract. And just cause there's a DMCA exception, it doesn't mean they have to fufill the warranty for a device that has been voided (due to jailbreaking).

Anyway, even the call home functionality will be stopped, but then Apple will update it, or add another hidden method that people won't find out until it's too late. All it takes is one phone call home to invalidate the warranty (and I think the devices are already checked in Apple stores since you can't get an iPhone repaired that has been reported stolen).
