As for the sound meter, you may be able to find/dpkg arecord. I think it still comes with alsa-utils. Or you could find a package for pavumeter, since Maemo uses pulseaudio.

As far as games, having nearly limitless storage and having every single system I care about on my device, not to mention being able to play flash games like a champion, and the few gems like Angry Birds and ZenBound, OpenGL ported games (openarena), you name it. I don't really see what the iPhone offers that my N900 doesn't, minus a polished interface for less-than-apt individuals and and oleophobic display.
For 1, the iPhone 4 offers a fantastic display. Play with it in real life, and you'd find it pretty damned amazing.

For 2, at least Safari doesn't regularly give me a blank page despite having loaded the page title... Unlike MicroB. :S

For 3, I like Tap Tap. No Tap Tap for Maemo, unfortunately. One day I might supplement my N900 with an iPod Touch.

Holding it in my left hand it's quite easy to slide out the keyboard and in the homescreen just start typing and it will find the contact (it's a little more awkward with my right hand (unless holding the N900 upside down) but it is also relatively easy)

A rather creative way of saying gave in to group pressure I would say

In all seriousness though, my experience is that Maemo is a better platform. Nevertheless, I await Nitdroid call-making-abilities eagerly. Hopefully, we'll be able to get Cyanogenmod on with it.
This +1
Meego has interesting possibilities, but it is at least 12-18 months from being acceptable. By this I mean it will take 3 or 4 high end phones being released before it reaches critical mass and companies or individuals develop for it...

Im thinking of walking around or browsing and seeing the option for a meego app - zinio reader springs to mind..
Until then, Im jumping ship to Nitdroid and will get another SD and stick meego on it when it gets released
