That should have gone away with the OS upgrade from Nokia..

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not totally alone. I don't know if I have a hardware problem or have done something wrong to my tablet, but it tends to reboot itself at least once in 24hrs (generally when it's idle). Sometimes I see a couple of days' uptime, but it's an exception. Reflashing and OS upgrades didn't change that ; if anything, it got worse with OS2006 (it's a 770).
A Linux system shouldn't behave this way.

When I was still using the junker machine, I had to reboot twice a day because my N800 is so faulty. It crashes doing even the most basic thing... locks up, freezes, self-reboots, and can't handle even the most basic request from me, the user. It can't run two programs at once.

It can't load anything in less than 30 seconds. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for Maemo Mapper to even load. It won't take typing or input of any kind unless I slam the stylus hard against the surface multiple times, which I had to resort to when my frustration had built up too far.

It's pretty much turned into a piece of junk. I'm back using my 770 now again...

Several people have now told me that I must have a defective unit, which makes sense, since I just got it back from the "REPAIR" center because it had already died once, and now that I got it back from the REPAIR center it just PRETENDS to be alive but acts like a dead thing anyway. What a great job they do "REPAIRING" things at Nokia, and now I'm past my warranty so they'll want $250 to repair it and put a new touchscreen on it... to which I must reply "Hey, did you notice what kind of a job REPAIRING it they did the LAST time you sent it in for REPAIR!" ???

So I might as well buy a new one from Ebay since they are now selling for that price on there. But I don't want to buy a new one, I want to use the one I BOUGHT. Go figure.

And I can't even get a REPAIR now anyway since the CompUSA I bought it from went out of business and since I lost my purchase stub, I cannot get another one from that store since they are gone, so now I can't even prove I own it anymore.

Oh well, at least my outdated 770 still works.

Thanks Nokia, for nothing.

Actually, perhaps mine is crashing less since I got the last firmware. It currently has an uptime of 5 days, and I think it a low battery caused the last restart.

But it does still sometimes lock up with a black screen and I have to remove the battery to restart it.

About every 10min when debugging DSP code, but otherwise probably about once a month.

Oh well,

I was more interested in knowing about every when the tablet is usually rebooted when using it the way it is intened ( I mean, not developing for it ).

I should collect the data and make up a graph...

I got my N810 last December. Up until last saturday I've had to re-boot it perhaps two or three times, mostly because I forgot to charge it after long sessions of web surfing + Internet radio.

However, now that I replaced my trusty old Linksys WRT54GS v1.1 with a new Zyxel Prestige 660HW-D1 (lastest firmware: v3.40), the tablet eats its battery in a couple of hours and dies... Not good!

I have to reboot my n810 every few days. I chalk it up to using Modest, rtcomm beta, and lots of complex webpages.

I change batteries several times a day because I almost never plug my N800 in. Therefore, I restart my N800 several times a day.

I reboot perhaps every 3 days of use, for one reason or another. Perhaps the most common cause for rebooting is fiddling with powerlaunch (and breaking things), but a close second of late is fiddling with theme stuff; it should take effect immediately on switching themes, but sometimes rebooting seems to help. And sometimes the changes I make have no effect, no matter what.
