no one wants to exchange Maemo for Symbian. If someone port it to N900 then it will be a just alternative just like Nitdroid.

Since we have access to boot loader, shouldn't it be theoretically possible to boot Maemo/MeeGo onto our S^3 devices the same way we boot NitDroid on our N900s?

(Yes, I know it can't happen over night, and it isn't plug and play. A LOT of hard work will need to happen, but isn't it at least possible?)

Why is TMO being used to discuss software that is likely pirated?

So we have resources from:
-MeeGo 1.2
-Tizen
-WebOS
-Symbian

... can these recycle some code to each other to make them better?
... can a community developed "MaeOS" be created?
if not, what can these bring to the AOSP?

... .... can we look forward to source code of QNX / BBX, lmao ?!?!

Symbian phones have a pretty secure boot chain. You'd probably need to sign some images before you can boot them on the device.

Hahahaha! I remember the old days of symbian where one have to sign softwares before install them to the phone. Or simply hack the firmware with HelloOX, x-Plore and bla bla bla...
I'm missing those experiences!!!!!

The boot images aren't signed the same way as sisx apps. While you can easily get a "developer certificate" for HelloOX, I don't think you can easily get a certificate to sign an image you feed to NOLO.

http://n70linux.wordpress.com/ - some dude trying to load code onto a Nokia phone. Needs a specific hack for code execution. Nasty hacky stuff, in addition, Maemo/MeeGo/Mer would run like *** on anything but the highest specced S^3 phones such as the N8 and E7, because they have cheap ARMv6 processors and non-flagship devices have a painfully low amount of RAM.
