So I think if geoclue is working this nicely we should for sure use it when adding the contextual hacks. I also believe is important to "disconnect" from a single application, but the whole platform should move towards it also. I hope other people embraces the project. We already people doing bindings for python for geoclue =) so it's not only cheap talk.

Excellent to hear that Canola will be using GeoClue then, especially with the Plazes support:

Thanks.
Python bindings will be great, I might add it to maemo wordpy.

For example, an option, I think, to set the place where you write the article: "Posting from: My home at XXXXX"

Cheers.

A question:

Will there be a FM radio button in the improved Canola? I know it works, i'm using it from xterm, but it looks awful. Would be nice to have it integrated, like "apfels in strudel" with a flashy Ui ^^

Regards,
Kasper

I'm also looking forward to Python bindings, as they would make it easier to work with GeoClue.

However, bindings are not really a must-have since Python (or any other language) apps can also talk with GeoClue via straight D-BUS.

BTW, have you looked at how Maemo Blog uses GeoClue? There the location is also added as Metaweblog API parameters so that a blog server gets coordinates that may be later served out as GeoRSS

You'll be more likely to get a useful reply if you provide some more detail on your problem. Which device do you have (n800 or 770)? Which version of the firmware? What error messages or other indications of download failure. Did you review the information on the "project home page" which is referenced on the garage site, specifically:

So the podcast download manager is ready and kicking. so you can listen, stream and download or just download if you wish. and the best: it was made very independent so it allows us to make for example a small applet to control just this without having to load canola. This will enable you to manage downloads in a better way. We took it pretty serious because we also believe podcasting is very important. So I'm pretty happy to see that we will be able to reach this goal!
I'm thrilled with the possibilities here. I have a 4 GB Apple iPod Nano and from it have become a huge fan of podcasts - and I'd love to be able to add RSS feeds for video podcasts and have them automatically download to my Nokia 770!

Any chance that this will also mean some built-in support for video podcasts in QuickTime / h.264 formats?
