No, not actually. The double-tap to unlock is possibly not doable in a context of an app, and to be frank I like the slider enough that I don't really think it is a killer feature. It would be nice to have though. Now for the time it needs a proper daemon to work alright and without draining the battery. I want to look into it but I haven't found the time.

I made a qt program that does this, but having the screen constantly on draws too much power. (Thanks to SpeedEvil pointing this out) The backlight is not the problem, it's the cpu that stays awake to refresh the screen at 60hz. There are some ideas for improving it, like flashing the time on-screen once per second, or showing it for a few seconds after the device has moved and the proximity sensor isn't covered, but I don't know if I want to continue playing with this since the original goal is unreachable without severe battery drain.

I am attaching sources and binary here, if somebody wants to take over.

I am happy to announce timenow, a utility that shows the time on the locked screen when the proximity sensor is uncovered. This should be power friendly enough, but please test and report.

What about CPU refreshing screen on 60hz? You've managed to overcome it (by some kind of "snapshot" took once per minute, frozen o), on screen without refreshing, or is it still an issue?

IIRC, it would basically deny device entering into C4 state as much as it should, still severely increasing power draw.
