Sure. Harmattan version already has this feature. I just need some time.
Flowplayer doesn't have a background scan process, you need to rescan when you add/remove music.

I don't use tracker to scan music. Flowplayer reads all files using taglib to make a different database. I will think about a different method to make it faster someday...

I've upgraded to sailfish 2.0 and flowplayer starts with a white screen. This is all I see launching the app from a terminal:
[nemo@Jolla ~]$ /usr/bin/flowplayer

Ah - adding a folder was the bit I missed. Thanks.
Mind you, the problem now is that it only picks up a few of the album covers, which are all embedded in the MP3s
