Sure. Harmattan version already has this feature. I just need some time.
Flowplayer doesn't have a background scan process, you need to rescan when you add/remove music.

One question, if tracker uses inotify to update the tracker store when a new file is created (as it seems to be for the default music player), can't you just query tracker for all tracks in the configured media folders path and avoid relaunching the tracker-process rescan? I don't really know how it works so maybe I'm missing something but if that's possible maybe the scan process could be much faster.
thanks,

Oh, thanks. I thought it used tracker, because when I launch a scan with flowplayer tracker-process kicks in and makes the phone slow and eats a chunk of battery.

Hi Cepi,
I've upgraded to sailfish 2.0 and flowplayer starts with a white screen. This is all I see launching the app from a terminal:
[nemo@Jolla ~]$ /usr/bin/flowplayer
[D] main:43 - Getting language from locale: "en_US"
[D] QWaylandEglClientBufferIntegration::QWaylandEglCli entBufferIntegration:62 - Using Wayland-EGL
[W] unknown:462 - file:///usr/share/flowplayer/qml/flowplayer.qml:462:5: Element is not creatable.

Ah - adding a folder was the bit I missed. Thanks.
Mind you, the problem now is that it only picks up a few of the album covers, which are all embedded in the MP3s
