Heya ukki.

Because you have such a wonderful zest with coding, I thought to throw an idea your way.

Perhaps have a feature where Knots doesn't stream the video to mplayer, but instead, downloads it directly onto your memory card for offline viewing.

Do you think such a thing would be useful or even practical for that matter?

Just curious, that's all. Nothing more and certainly, well maybe a little less.

Ukki, is there a place where you explain what the newest installs change/improve? In other words, is it worth it to reinstall the server to the newest version? Updates maybe in a text file zipped with the installer or from the wiki would be useful.

Ed. Also, question - I can't seek anymore, using transport bar. Has there been a change? It's really a necessary feature. Also, resume doesn't seem to be working for me either.

Had this in first Knots, doubt nobody used it. There are so many apps that do this kind of thing so I've postponed it. But I've been thinking about it. I could add a menu button to playlist view to transcode and transfer the items on playlist to device. But let's see what my motivation is after tonights us-fi hockey match

EDIT: yeah, so not gonna happen

You are right, I'll start adding changes to a readme or something. But you can see them online at: http://github.com/solmis/knots/commits/master

I haven't changed anything related to playback so it must be a VLC thing. Does this happen with all source codecs? Same thing in browser frontend? If so, I need to look at what has changed in VLC for Windows.

Wow, didn't realise that you used to offer such a feature.

I probably would use it from time to time but it definitely wouldn't be a push from me to see it available again.

So what percentage of data from an original file were you typically seeing?

Say like a 100 meg video, would you be downloading like a 20 meg conversion of it? Just wondering.

And yeah, tonight's game is going to be huge!

I already have my keg of beer and snorkel waiting for me!

By the way, our goalie is right here from East Lansing.

I hope he continues to do good otherwise my city is going to burn. *lol*

It actually made the files little bigger with the streaming profile, but one could create a profile that makes them smaller.

I got my first small donation yesterday so I can afford some beer too. Here's to hoping your goalie is an alchoholic asshat that sucks like you

I can search after the movie plays for a few minutes, I discovered, so it might be a buffer thing. But certainly resume is not working, unless it's a feature I haven't turned on, maybe? The browser frontend, you say? You mean on the N900? Not sure I understand what you're getting at, but I do start all movies with a double-clck from the GUI.

Are you sure this is not because of buffering? Using a large cache makes seeking less instant, because mplayer has more video buffered and you may have to wait many seconds before it jumps to the correct position in the video stream.

Hello

Does anyone know what library I am missing if I am not getting mp2a audio? I am using the n900 profile and mp3 gives me audio, but mp2a does not.

I have twolame in vlc and libmp3lame in ffmpeg.

Thanks,

Paul

Good question, it seems it's VLCs codec, but quick googling didn't help. Anyway, if mp3/mp2 works for audio, feel free to use them instead.
