I think my scratchbox is missing the statusbar component so I am unable to test with it. But after using that hildon-desktop command on the device, with a correct desktop file, I realized that scratchbox was still in the x86 target.

Thank you for pointing that out!

New test binaries.
  • fix: a race condition could secure autolock the device as soon as it became inactive
  • listen for "show" signal and map ASUI
  • listen for "req_battery_status" signal and send out "charging_status" and "battery_capacity" signals
  • power button statusbar applet to open ASUI
  • battery statusbar applet to open ASUI and replace default battery applet
  • secure keypad now updates temperature
  • fix: no longer autolocks device while in charging runlevel
  • added 'da' to asui convenience script to download and install statusbar applets
  • added short tap marker to theme button on n800
  • changed the line below lux value from orange to blue, and only display if !cfg_short_tap_markers

Type 'asui dt ; asui it' to download and install ASUI.
Type 'asui uu' to upgrade the asui script.
Type 'asui da' to download and install the statusbar applets.

http://qzx.com/asui/?p0=about

Scroll down a little on that page and you can see the new statusbar icons. Enable the power button applet if you just want to open ASUI or enable the battery applet if you want to replace the default battery applet and also want to open ASUI. You can also enable idle time if you use ASUI's battery applet since it won't open a popup.

The battery applet shows the power button icon until it has queried the battery state from ASUI. Both applets momentarily change to a gray power button icon when pressed.

There are eight wifi and two bluetooth icons, although it would be nice to have a third bluetooth icon to show if the device is visible or just has bluetooth on.

I'm sure it might be possible but I don't how to merge two icons into the button. Would need to know how or else 24 icons would be needed to made showing all combinations. It would also help if someone made these 11 or 24 icons and I would need to know how to detect the four marked wifi modes.

Well what i had in mind was maybe more like some colored dots next to the battery that would show the status of wifi and bluetooth (on/off/connected), as i suspect trying to shoehorn the wifi and bluetooth icons in there fully will be a bit much.

After the dbus-uuidgen command, I got a different error on starting:
Code:
/home/user # asui rt
advanced-systemui-test: can't connect to session method bus: Failed to execute dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session
The run-standalone worked OK for me to test the two features I was interested in checking -- and yes, the SSH client count is correct, and the blank feature appears to properly override the 'remain lit while charging' setting.

Is the battery applet only supposed to show green when on the charger?

You can then type 'asui it', without run-standalone, to install it.

It will be white with animated green interior while charging and solid green when fully charged.

thanks for clearing that up, as the graphics on the page got me thinking that it would be green for one third, then switch to white for one third, and red for the last third.

ah, taking a second look i notice now that the red continues onwards from the white. Maybe if you had flipped the greens it would be a bit more clear...

Fixed the page to make it clearer. What do you mean by "flipped the greens"?
